Single greatest hoax perpetrated on the American people was that Russia was a threat to our nation. Yes, they have nukes, but they go six months without paying their military. Their military scours the countryside for food, taking what they want from dachas across the land to survive.
If Russia was a real military threat, Ukraine would not be able to stand up to Russia. Russia successfully seized the Crimea simply because they were already leasing much of the land and had five military bases there. No mystery here.
The problem is that they could become a problem over time when you consider European countries are reluctant to defend their nations properly. Trump is no friend to Russia with his demanding European nations cough up the money to defend themselves. Germany is the worst offender within NATO, the wealthiest nation in Europe, and they pay about half of what they agreed to pay.
I think the time has come to revise the formula for funding of NATO. I think nations like Germany, France and Britain should contribute double what they are paying in defense of their nations. I think the share the USA pays should be reduced in half now, and reduced again to a sum no greater than one half of what Germany is expected to pay. Defending Europe is NOT the responsibility of the USA.
