Earl, the problem with that scenario is that the congressional house map looks almost impossible to beat.  The GOP has a huge number of retirements, and Trump will likely lose the popular vote nationwide by four or five points.  That helps the Democrats in the house because the vote for congress critters more closely parallels the popular vote.

Trump lost the PV by 2 points. How does he lose by 4 or 5 in 2020 and still win? Also, throw out CA and he won the PV. Winning back the House and holding the Senate will be tough, but if Trump wins it could happen.

Thanks for the warning my friend but the wager remains available if you dare.

As much as I would enjoy a free round of golf, I would never bet against an outcome I desire regardless of what my prognostications tell me.

There are quite a few polls out right now that show Trump losing by around 5 points but still winning.  It would happen because the blue states would go very heavily for the Dem while Trump wins each of  the red states by a small majority.

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Great point. She’s boxed in and must proceed with impeachment—even though what they have is nothing.

@aligncare

And the irony is it will turn out to have been the boost Trump's re-election campaign needed to guarantee his re-election because even the typical "unaffiliated voter" that only pays attention to politics a few months every 4 years is now aware of what a political farce it is,and this will convince most of them to vote for Trump.

The "DO NOTHING HOUSE" will be the Pub theme in the House races, as well as, when you elected the "moderate Rat" last time you got Pelosi and the radical left running the show not what you wanted is it.

I just can't believe 2020 will be close. If the Pubs don't take back the House, expand their hold on the Senate and keep the Presidency we are going to get 4 more years of this garbage. The American people have to be sick and tired of this 3 year, going on 4, temper tantrum of the Rats.

Politicians of all stripes always say every election is "close," lest the base gets apathetic and doesn't bother to turn out.  I hope the Rats are pissing off the "independents," but the leftist Rat Press will never report that is occurring, so we won't know until next November's results come in.

Plus—and here’s the important part—voters have never denied any president re-election who has had a rip-roaring economy like we are experiencing seemingly engineered by the president from his campaign promises and from his claim to fame: making deals and building successful companies.

I think jobs, 401k’s and extra spending money at the end of the week will ultimately trump whatever discomfiture people have with Trump’s negative public image—a false image, by the way, which was constructed over four years by a hateful and biased media, in alliance with the democrat party and with democrats in congress who had a political objective: overthrow President Trump—honest journalism, be damned.

I don’t understand why NeverTrumpers never question their assumptions about Trump or where those assumptions came from?

Want a big eye opener? Search the internet for articles written about Donald Trump and compare and contrast those published before, and those published after he ran for office. Go ahead, do it and witness raw, dirty, filthy politics and yellow journalism at its core.

They have to be. Trump may be a turn off because of his style, but wasting a year on a phony impeachment after wasting 2 years on a phony Russia investigation has to be wearing thin. Trump has been very successful despite all this. His economic approach with tax cuts, deregulation, energy development and trade deals has been very good for the USA. He's following through on getting the wall built. He's been nominating judges that seem to be pretty good.

In response what have the Rats done? Did they try to find areas to compromise and get things done on immigration, prescription drug pricing, health insurance reform. No, all they did was serve their radical leftist base and "resist.

If the vast majority of the American public don't throw the 21st century Bolsheviks out I don't see any long term future for all of us.

That's about the size of it.  Our Constitution was written to prevent immoral politicians from accumulating too much power, but we're screwed when it's the voters who are immoral and see nothing wrong with using "theft by government" as the preferred method of stealing from people and forcing them to do things they don't want to do.  If it's illegal for me as in individual to do something, then it should be illegal for the government to do it as well.

I think there are a lot of us never Trumpers who are happy to admit we were wrong.

My concern with Trump was three part in nature. One, he only had a short history of being a conservative/populist and living all his life in one of the most leftist areas of our country I thought he would side with the leftists on the big issues. The second part of my concern was how all over the place he was on the issues. Finally, the way he campaigned in the primaries soured me.

However, he has done, or tried to do, what he said he would while under attack that would deter even the most stout of us. I'm happy to give his campaign money and vote for him in 2020. I represent most of the never Trumpers. The one's you hear form here and in the media are a minority.

 :amen:

I see signs of this changing. I had dinner the other night with my son (26 yr. old). He's been more of a left leaning guy since college. Out of the blue he says, "if those socialists win we are doomed, business will move out and jobs will be lost". My wife's jaw dropped, I smiled and said, "welcome home son".

We are going to win this fight, because we have to!

Well its apparent that this Impeachment Fandango is pure gold for its bus driver, the media.
Further, as Mark Twain observed, this relentless noise should remind anyone, even w/the brain of a toddler that; "Both politicians and diapers need to be changed regularly and for the very same reason."
As for the role of Congress in this charade, Ronald Reagan once wondered aloud, what the Ten Commandments would have resembled, had Moses been required to get Congressional approval before implementing these divine rules spawned by the Natural Law.
