Pamela Karlan lays an egg
By Patricia McCarthy

The impeachment hearings are on, with a spotlight on the three anti-Trump law professors who ranted before Rep. Jerry Nadler's House Judiciary committee on Wednesday.

Their testimonies were a disaster for the Democrats.  They proved they were anything but constitutionalists. It took the fourth "witness," the eloquent Jonathan Turley, to drive that home.  These other three were quite the opposite, fans of abrogating most of our founding document.

What will be remembered forever is the condescending arrogance of the professors -- Pamela Karlan, Noah Feldman and Michael Gerhardt.  If there were ever an expose of the kind of people who inhabit the ivory towers of academia, this was it.  These three law professors were a flashing neon warning:  Do not send your kids to prestigious law schools.  People like this are not educating kids, they are numbing their brains with destructive Marxist nonsense.  Nadler did us all a favor, actually: He exposed for all to see just how far gone the American left is.  Not one of those three extreme partisans has any knowledge of the actual Constitution nor do they have any respect for it.  That was made very clear on Wednesday.   There are numerous constitutionalist scholars Nadler could have called upon -- John Eastman, Mark Levin, Hugh Hewitt -- for example.  That Jonathan Turley was allowed to speak was a Christmas miracle.  Like Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz, Turley is the real deal, a non-partisan legal scholar.

That one stupid snark exposed her testimony and that of the Dems' other witnesses' for the hate-driven partisan exercises they were. It should have been followed by the sounds of Dem Reps' heads crashing to their desks. But I doubt many Dems have the self-awareness and intelligence to recognize what she did.

Any of those three would have been great. Levin would have incredible ambush potential, because Dem Reps would probably be familiar with his radio show style and not realize that he is a scholar and could easily testify with that kind of demeanor. So the Dems would have been making fools of themselves trying to bait Levin and Levin would highlight their foolishness with well-reasoned calm answers (and then colorfully unload on them on his radio show, :cool: ).

@mystery-ak

Luckily for them they can't be fired from their tenured jobs,and even if they could,they wouldn't be because that was require the school hierarchy to poor judgement and political bias in hiring.

Noah Feldman seemed like a total arrogant shit to me,Karlan seemed like a bitter lesbian leftist,and Gerhardt just didn't seem to be very bright. They all more than made up for those shortcomings with smugness,though.
Anyone who isn't paranoid in 2021 just isn't thinking clearly!

The reason they won't be fired isn't because the schools don't want to admit to an error in hiring them.  Those schools knew exactly who those professors were when they hired them.  That's why they hired them.

They won't be fired because the schools don't believe they made a mistake at all.

Rather than start a closely parallel thread about the same topic:

THE KARLAN CATASTROPHE [UPDATED]

Quote
It seems to have gone badly for the Democrats. For one thing, it was clear that the Ukraine story is only a pretext, and the Democratic members of the committee, and their “expert” witnesses, have been advocating impeachment for a long time.

Rep. Jim Jordan

BEFORE Pelosi announced the impeachment inquiry on 9/24...

BEFORE the phone call between President Trump and President Zelensky on 7/25...

BEFORE the Mueller hearing in Judiciary on 7/24...

16 Dem members of the Judiciary Committee voted to move forward with impeachment.

Rep Andy Biggs

@RepAndyBiggsAZ

All 3 of the Democrats' law professors came w/ preconceived biases. Two have said for years that various acts by the President constitute impeachable acts.

They weren't fact witnesses. These individuals had reckless biases against @realDonaldTrump, and they were exposed today.

... Karlan came across as an obsessive Trump-hater. She testified that on one occasion, she was walking down a sidewalk and came to a Trump hotel. She said that she crossed the street so she wouldn’t have to pass in front of the Trump property. That’s some objective “expert” witness!

But Karlan’s worst moment came when she dragged the Trumps’ 13-year-old son Barron into a prepared joke:

The D’s  “Karlan catastrophe” is not that it was mean, undignified or a display of boiling rage. It was all that...and more. It was thoroughly authentic, revealing in a split second the venom infusing the hearings and underscoring how little they have to do w/ other than #TDS.

The "Update" to the article is the text of Karlan's non-apology apology & parting snark.
