They are going to do that anyway. But what they won't be able to do is to cross that threshhold by citing fact of action that is an offense.
Even today, I heard some Dem congressman describing an exchange between a mayor and a fire chief where the mayor says he will give the fire chief new equipment if the fire chief does a favor for him. The fact of the matter is that this does not at all describe what Trump did. It is a false narrative that needs to be challenged daily for the next 300 days. And the only way to do that is to make it the focus. Because the way to defeat the Democrats here is to defeat their strategy. Defeat their narrative. Defeat their hypotheticals. Make their lies the focus.
But as you well know.... even 'if' the Republicans defeat the Democrats' narrative, strategy and hypotheticals.... their leftist media will never report on it... and a good portion of Americans will never know about it.
The dilemma is like a Catch-22. Dismiss the motion and end 'this' Impeachment ... and the Democrats can and will only start another. And another. And another. Thus making the evil "I" word associated with Trump front-page news every day up to Election Day (their intention all along).

So this decision cannot be made ""lightly"".
I, for one, would love to see the rats get subpoenaed and have to go under oath and testify. But I have no illusions about how that outcome could backfire and could end up harming rather than helping Trump's case.
