(JTA) — Amazon has come under fire for selling Christmas ornaments and bottle openers featuring images of the site of the former Auschwitz Nazi death camp.

The products were taken off the Amazon website hours after the Auschwitz Memorial and Museum in Europe asked the site to remove the items on Sunday morning.

“Selling ‘Christmas ornaments’ with images of Auschwitz does not seem appropriate. Auschwitz on a bottle opener is rather disturbing and disrespectful. We ask @amazon to remove the items of those suppliers,” the museum said.

Amazon triggers outrage by selling Christmas decorations and bottle openers picturing Auschwitz

AMAZON has caused outrage by selling Christmas decorations and novelty bottle openers that picture Auschwitz.

Products on offer include star and bell-shaped Christmas tree baubles featuring photos of the gateway and interior of the Nazi death camp in occupied Poland

A magnetic bottle opener featuring a scene from the camp wrongly describes it as “the former Jewish district in Krakow.”

One horrified shopper wrote in the reviews section: “This is not Krakow, this is a picture of Auschwitz death camp. This is a Christmas ornament? How dare you!”

Pretty sick, if true. But the photo shown looks suspicious.

Wow. Who would agree to manufacture, let alone market, something like this?
