Barriers Shift Drug Smuggling Away from the Border
Wall and Border Patrol if by land, Coast Guard and AMO if by sea ...

By Andrew R. Arthur on November 22, 2019

On a number of occasions, I have attempted to explain that the main importance of barriers along the border is not so much to stop the flow of illegal migrants and drugs to the United States, but rather to impede them, thereby raising the price of smuggling and giving our understaffed Border Patrol agents more time to respond to incursions. A little-noticed report out of San Ysidro, Calif., proves the first point, and likely the second as well.

The local San Diego ABC affiliate, Channel 10, published a piece on November 1, 2019, captioned "Border officials say the wall is working, drug smuggling shifting to the sea", which includes the following:

The proper response:
Treat the boats as invading terrorists, thus...
Have the Coast Guard shoot the boats out of the water.
