Don Cherry returns with new show after leaving Sportsnet

Don Cherry's tenure on "Coach's Corner" may be over, but he's back on the airwaves with a new show, the Toronto Sun reports.

Cherry will be resurrecting "Grapevine," a half-hour long interview show that aired on Hamilton's CHC-TV and later TSN in the 1980s. This time, it will come in the form of a podcast.

The longtime television personality was recently fired from Sportsnet on Nov. 11 for his comments directed toward immigrants while discussing poppies and Remembrance Day on "Hockey Night in Canada" on Nov. 9. Despite several media appearances in the ensuing days, he said he didn't get the chance to explain his comments — which he said weren't directed only at immigrants. He did not offer an apology on the matter.

I had read there was a petition circulating to reinstate Mr. Cherry and also that he had a job offer.  But I am glad he is doing something and hasn't let this firing keep him down.
