It lends legitimacy to a clearly corrupt process. McConnell should summarily move to dismiss. It would be a mistake to do otherwise.
@aligncare Legitimacy doesn't matter. This is politics,and public perception is the only thing that matters with an election coming up. Left to their own devices,the DNC and the RNC pull in roughly the same number of votes if you include all the dead people and illegal aliens that vote Dim.
This means it is Steve and Suzy Sixpack who will decide the next president,and Steven and Susie only pay attention to politics the last 30-60 days of the campaigns. Even then they vote according to who has the "cutest" wife,the "best" hair cut,or who can fake sincerity the best. If Mr.Magoo were to refuse to play this thing out,the Dims would be shrieking about how he did it because he knew Trump was guilty of child molesting and cheating with the wife of the Ukrainian President,kicking puppies,and Bogarting joints. The last two alone could cause him to lose.
Nope,better to hold the hearings and let them drag out as close to election day as possible,and then have them tossed by the vote of congress. The Dims will shriek anyhow,but the Republicans will be able to truthfully claim Trump was found not guilty.
