If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

A huge Steely Dan fan here. I love the song Dirty Work but it was never what I consider a quintessential Steely Dan song as it lacked IMO the jazz and soul of many of their other works. The thing about Steely Dan is that it never IMO feels dated or gimmicky as a lot of 70’s music does, mostly owing to the classic jazz influences and great musicianship.

Here’s a good video about the “band” that was never really a “band” and more Fagen and Becker working their genius in composition, lyrics and an ever changing rotation of the best studio musicians to be found and Fagen and Becker’s perfectionism in the studio.

Steely Dan: More Than Just a Band

It’s hard for me to name my favorite Steely Dan album or song as there are so many, but IMO, Aja is near perfection.

A great band. My personal favorite from them is "The End Is Not in Sight" (sometimes it seems appropriate).
