With the recent passing of John Prine, I am reminded that Prine was an uncredited co-author of David Allan Coe's legendary "You Never Even Called Me by My Name," also known as the "perfect country and western song." Steve Goodman allegedly gave Prine a share of the royalties anyway, which Prine used to buy a jukebox.

@jmyrlefuller

Those of you who like traditional country would probably enjoy watching the old Johnny Cash tv show that was recorded in the Whyman Theater and syndicated. The original shows are being re-broadcast,and I have seen stuff like the first tv appearance by a VERY young Linda Ronstadt, and just yesterday I watched a episode that had his good pal Waylon Jennings on it,and Waylon looked funny with his "Kookie,Kookie, lend me your comb" hair-do that looked to be bulletproof.

I have to admit MY favorite part of most shows is watching Mother Maybelle throwing daggers at him with her eyes. That woman had some eyes that could burn through steel.

If you want to search for it,the title is "The Johnny Cash Show". Hooda guessed?

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

Ozark Mountain Daredevils are known for a few AM radio hits; but some of the rest of their music is actually pretty good and I was reading an article on them and they called their style "country rock", I got to listening a bit more and indeed, that's a proper description if anyone ever wants to hear more of their fare. They may still be around.

Back to a discussion of about 2 weeks ago, the original Skinheads were not Neo-Nazis and I don't think threatening, it was a movement in the UK. And looks like it was mixed race sometimes.  And this is related to them because this is sort of Ska, Skinhead music. Maybe they were like Mods or Punks some, a movement, would make them dislikeable to some but they were not the militants from my understanding.  Doc Maartens' boots. Teddy Boys, movement back in the '50s... an interesting phenomenon.  I don't know a whole lot about them. I would assert the movement is something like from 1969.

Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

Here is the wikipedia entry:

Quote
As skinheads adopted elements of mod subculture and Jamaican British and Jamaican immigrant rude boy subculture, both first and second generation skins were influenced by the heavy, repetitive rhythms of dub and ska, as well as rocksteady, reggae, and African-American soul, rhythm and blues and funk music.[2][3][4]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinhead

So, the first wave was likely not the wierdos the name has come to signify today.

Quote
Skinhead culture became so popular by 1969 that even the rock band Slade temporarily adopted the look as a marketing strategy.[

Jamaica is right south of Cuba, so why didn't the refugees go there? Well, I'm sure there are different explanations, one I've heard is that the waves don't really go to Jamaica like they do towards Florida.  Havana's on the North, that probably has something to do with it.

I listened some to the Boss Tones, I believe they say they are a Ska variant, hard for me to say...

Justin Hinds - Rub Up, Push Up, the original....

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Great tune!!

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Saw the one and only, legendary Gordon Lightfoot two years ago.  He walked on stage barefoot and remained so, throughout the entire concert.  His performance was awesome and his music is so unique.
