Why millennials see destructive socialism as cool
By Victor Davis Hanson

Multiple forms of socialism, from hard Stalinism to European redistribution, continue to fail.

Russia and China are still struggling with the legacy of genocidal communism. Eastern Europe still suffers after decades of Soviet-imposed socialist chaos.

Cuba, Nicaragua, North Korea and Venezuela are unfree, poor and failed states. Baathism — a synonym for pan-Arabic socialism — ruined the postwar Middle East.

The soft-socialist European Union countries are stagnant and mostly dependent on the U.S. military for their protection.

In contrast, current American deregulation, tax cuts and incentives, and record energy production have given the United States the strongest economy in the world.

Another fine piece by Mr. Hanson.

Got nuthin' to compare with him.
Except for... the American Timeline:
2019: USA -- United States of America
2027: USSA -- United Socialist States of America
2035: USSSA -- United Soviet Socialist States of America
2042:  ?????

Could never happen here.
Never.
Right....?

I read articles or statements by some people supposedly in the know saying that today's young people are the smartest young people ever.
Then I see videos of them being interviewed about current events or historical occurrences, and they don't seem so smart. All previous generations have given the thumbs down to socialism. But somehow, they think it would be cool.
I guess they know how to get around various electronic devices, but their actual knowledge of what makes the world spin appears to be dismal.

IMHO, he misses the biggest cause, which is an education system run by leftists which has been indoctrinating our youth from Kindergarten onward, for the past 50 years or so.
Let it burn.

They think it's cool because they are youthful and idealistic.
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.
