Will the Astros claim ranking among the dynastic with their second World Series win in three seasons?

Will the Nationals do what's never been done in any sport whose championship is decided in a best-of-seven and win it entirely on the road?

We're about to find out . . . Game Seven is about to get underway in Minute Maid Park . . .

Trivia: Tonight is the fortieth World Series Game Seven in history . . . and the road team has actually won more of them, weirdly enough, including the Astros two years ago . . .

Alex Bregman robs a likely double from Trea Turner by backhanding his leadoff liner . . . two more swift outs and it's Nats nothing, Astros coming up to hit.

The Astros follow up with two men on but no further score as Springer hits a sinking liner Soto catches on the shoetop . . .

. . . but they lead 1-0 after two full Game Seven innings . . .

A base hit and a walk and somehow the Astros can't cash it in, with a little help from some sharp Nats leather on a night it looks like Max the Knife isn't exactly the sharpest blade on the mound . . . the question becomes how much he still has in the tank with that shoulder before the Nats have to go to the pen . . .

Anthony Rendon can't make the big stop on Correa's grounder up the line, it's an RBI single and first and third . . . the Nationals challenge whether Alvarez's foot was off the pad when he was tagged at third (the run would still hold up) . . . the review also gives Patrick Corbin a little extra warmup time in the Nats bullpen, which might be the real reason the Nats called for the review . . . the call stands . . . Alvarez is safe . . . Scherzer strikes Robinson Chirinos out swinging . . . it was the first hit with RISP in their last sixteen tries at home in the Series for the Astros . . .

But it's 2-0 Astros after five full . . . will that be the end of Scherzer's night?

The Astros get a leadoff pinch single (Jake Marisnick) but Corbin strikes Springer out swinging and Altuve hits into a step-and-throw double play for the side . . .

. . . but the Astros still lead it, 2-0, with Zack Greinke pitching like a master tonight . . .

Greinke gets a huge standing O from the Minute Maid crowd and he earned every decibel of it tonight . . .
