 Joe Biden denied Holy Communion at Florence church

FLORENCE, S.C. – Former Vice President Joe Biden, a candidate for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential race, was denied Holy Communion on Sunday morning at a Florence church.

Father Robert E. Morey of Saint Anthony Catholic Church confirmed Monday afternoon that he had denied the presidential candidate Holy Communion because of his stance on abortion. Biden, a lifelong Catholic, had attended the church's 9 a.m. Mass.

Communion is one of seven sacraments in the Roman Catholic Church. The others are baptism, reconciliation, confirmation, marriage, anointing of the sick and holy orders.

It's a start.  Would be nice if Pelosi and all the other pro-abortion fake Christians in DC were denied communion too.   Kudos to  Father Morey for having the guts to stand up to one of the swamp creatures.

Well, the  Church had been taking that stand for most people.  But the pro-abortion actions of politicians, celebrities and other "important" people were overlooked.  Especially if those people were throwing large sums of money into the collection plate.

Sounds like Joe may be one of those cafeteria Catholics, taking on the parts he likes and disregarding the rest of the doctrine.

Which... kinda corrupts the entire concept of "giving to the church" for everyone.   God doesn't take bribes.  All donations should be completely anonymous so that no "special considerations" can be given.  I never did like that "passing the plate" routine.   Even folks that can't afford to "give" feel forced to give something.   It's BS.

It was worse years ago when some churches sold indulgences -- basically paying for forgiveness of your sins and presumably ensuring your admission to heaven.  Now that was quite a racket.

My husband goes to Mass and receives Communion daily.   While he refuses to drink the sacramental wine offered with the Eucharist at Mass he drinks an enormous amount of Kool Aid  while he reads the NY Times from cover to cover.  He says he finds it troubling that Biden was refused Communion.  My husband has turned into an Liberal/Libertarian/Asshat in his old age.
