Judiciary Committee and Nadler to regain control of impeachment

The Judiciary Committee had been criticized by both parties for conducting an impeachment proceeding that had devolved into theatrics, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Monday she’ll move the inquiry back to the panel some time after the House votes Thursday on a resolution to formalize the proceedings.
“This resolution establishes the procedure for hearings that are open to the American people, authorizes the disclosure of deposition transcripts, outlines procedures to transfer evidence to the Judiciary Committee as it considers potential articles of impeachment, and sets forth due process rights for the President and his Counsel,†Pelosi wrote to Democrats.
Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler has largely been silent since House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff took over the proceedings in late September.
Pelosi shifted the inquiry after Nadler’s hearings were ridiculed for featuring such witnesses as former Watergate figure and convicted felon John Dean.
