Andrew McCabe abruptly drops wrongful termination suit against DOJBizPac Review, Oct 26, 2019
In a sudden and telling move on Friday, the attorney for former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe dropped his wrongful termination lawsuit against the FBI. The move to dismiss the case came the day after news broke that the Department of Justice’s investigation into the origins of the Democrats’ Russia investigation has shifted into a criminal probe.
Even more specific and threatening to McCabe, news also came out this week implicating the disgraced deputy director for a meeting he is said to have held with infamous former FBI agent Peter Strzok and ex-FBI attorney Lisa Page, as well as other officials, in which they allegedly discussed a plan to alter their interview notes to frame former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
McCabe was fired from his position as second in command at the bureau in March 2018 by former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, less than two days short of being eligible for retirement. The termination came after the office of the DOJ inspector general recommended he be fired because he displayed a “lack of candor†in four interviews about his authorization of leaks to the media.
With the current DOJ probe led by John Durham circling in with possible evidence of serious criminal activity in connection with the Russia hoax, it appears McCabe has decided to try to cut his losses. In fact, withdrawing the suit against the FBI may be an indicator that McCabe will cooperate with the DOJ going forward.
