Senate Dems: Barr must recuse himself from Ukraine, Russia probe investigation

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee are calling on Attorney General William Barr to step back from Ukraine-related matters and an investigation into the origins of the probe on Russian election meddling and the Trump campaign.
The panel's 10 Democrats sent Barr a letter saying there was an "appearance of a conflict of interest" and that he should recuse himself from any Ukraine matters, including investigations involving Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani; Lev Parnas or Igor Fruman, two Giuliani associates who were indicted earlier this month; and the department's investigation into the origins of the Russia probe.
"Impartial enforcement of the law is essential to give the American public confidence in the Justice Department's work. Your personal connection to these matters creates the appearance of a conflict of interest and gives rise to questions about whether the Department is being used to advance the president's personal interests," the senators wrote.
