Civil war? Voters say we’re getting close
« on: October 24, 2019, 09:20:30 pm »
'Talk' like this seems to be common place these days.  I believe we're very close; and one of the goals of the left.

Civil war? Voters say we’re getting close

Last month, President Donald Trump, facing the threat of impeachment, quoted Pastor Robert Jeffress in a tweet saying “if the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office (which they will never be), it will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal.”

A new poll suggest he might be right.

According to the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service survey, the average American voter believes the U.S. is two-thirds of the way toward the “edge of a civil war.” The poll asked voters to rate the division in the country from zero to 100, with 100 being defined as the “edge of civil war.”

The average response came in at 67.23.

“Restoring a higher level of civility to our politics will take a dedicated and courageous group of Republicans, Democrats, and members of the media to reject the easy tactics of uncivil rhetoric that paints opponents as enemies,” Republican Ed Goeas of the Tarrance Group said in the release.

The poll, which interviewed 1,000 registered voters, also showed most Americans believe the political, racial and class divide is widening. The source of that division, of course, depends on which side of the aisle answered the question.

Republicans blame the Democrats, Twitter TWTR, -0.23%  , papers like the New York Times NYT, +1.08%  and favorite Trump target CNN. Democrats point the finger at Fox News, wealthy special interests, and President Trump. ...................

Rats are trying to deny the other half of the nation the representation they won fairly. Thats why the republican base blames them.

The rats blame those who simply oppose them.

I’ve been saying for 10 years that it’s coming.   Do people really think that the evil progressives, having got soooo close to their socialist utopia, are just going to say “aw shucks, I guess the people don’t want this”?    No!  We are in a fight to the death for the future of this nation.  They will ensure it....unless of course we just roll over and take it.

We are drawing near the time of choosing.

BZZZZZ!  Wrong!  It's been that way for a LONG time and is only now being exposed!

Yes, I've realized that our government has been corrupt for quite a long time, but never did I realize how corrupt it really is.  Yes, you are absolutely correct, it is slowly being exposed.

It might be upcoming, but be damned if Donald Trump is leading it.

Sorry, but IMHO it never would have been exposed without Donald Trump at the controls.  I understand why you resist that but it's true never-the-less.

This POTUS has shown time after time of being a turn coat, and throwing allies under the bus.  You will never find me in a foxhole with him.

He' never going to be my buddy either but what I said above is true.  The corruption in Washington would never have been exposed without him at the helm.

He is a tough guy who pushes ahead on what he thinks is right no matter what. The "allies" that get thrown under the bus seem to think that if they side with him on one thing he will accommodate them on another, he won't. He is not a career politician. He is a former real estate developer, property manager. On one deal he will partner with someone and on the next deal he will fight that same person.

The NTers will never admit it, but you are obviously correct. If we'd nominated then elected ANY other GOP candidate - including Cruz - the leftwing bureaucratic state & media would not be coming unglued as they clearly are.

The NTers don't even have to acknowledge it was intentional, but you'd think they could at least credit Trump with that.

Exposing the absolute corruption in Washington DC is no small thing in my estimation @skeeter and it definitely moves the ball in the right direction.

Yeah, prior to election Trump had 3,500 unprecedented law suits.  He thrives on doing things that land him in court.  He certainly is a different approach to government.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Getting close to Civil War??? Who knew?
If so, will leadership please step up to the plate; which reminds of a remark by Charlie Stengel (yes him).
"Leaders, to be successful, must keep those who detest them far away from those who are undecided."
By that standard, Trump has lotsa work to do!!!

Honest question...

What would the civil war look like? Who would be combatants, where would it be fought? Where would the front lines be?

I don't even know if 'war' will be the appropriate term. I'm trying to imagine what it would be like if half the nation's voters are suddenly told they no longer have a say in who runs the country, then are expected under the force of law to abide by the rules made by those elected by the half who do have a say.

Maybe they'll meekly acquiesce, I dunno. But that wouldn't comport with what we know about human nature.

If they don't I really have no idea what the result would look like, other than violent and messy.

I don't think a civil war will be fought like the last one. Heck we are still refighting it, lol. Plus if one looks around at our young people, the ones that would be fighting a physical war. Unless they are personally threatened, I don't see (most) of  them fighting for and ideal.

I am not sure there isn't a civil war going on right now. A war of politics and ideology. With the media and social media as powerful as it is that could be more lethal. The lack of civility will tear this country to shreds with the assistance of the above mentioned media/social media.

IF there ever is a civil war in this country it will be the first.  What occurred between 1860 - 1865 was not one despite what you have been told.

When it happens it will involve shutting off the flow of gas and electricity to the population centers and will be very short-lived.

Well, the population centers are by and large who us conservatives will be fighting, so I can go along with that.

One way to look at it is the groups that will be on one side or the other.

Conservatives will predominately control resources and wealth creation, outside of liberal havens such as tech.

Libs will also control non-productive areas such as academia, environmental, media and of course Hollywood and the vast unproductive members of society such as welfare recipients.  I count government here as well as bureaucracy tends to be liberal.

Splits will occur in banking and Wall Street.

Techies and media can do a lot of damage as we are witnessing now, but my bet will be on the resources and productive sector of America, which are conservative in nature.

Land becomes much more valuable and elevated prices in urban places will crash like a cheap car hitting a tree.  Even the libs require the resources to survive and they will not own most of it.

I think what will happen is a very conservative State will elect a Gov. and legislators who will refuse to comply with the federal govt., whether it be abortion, guns, transgenderism, etc. and the leftists in control in DC will attempt to impose their will at first by using the courts and when the State officials refuse to comply the federal govt will attempt to send troops. At this point the Gov. will call up the National Guard and a stand off will follow. As all this transpires other State govts., will line up behind the rebellious State, or the Federal Govt. Hopefully someone (probably a general in DC) will tell the POTUS that we are not going to have a war and a way to dissolve the union should be worked out.

If that doesn't happen and the federal govt pushes ahead with force you can bet the citizens of the rebellious State will fight back.
