What do people think foreign aid is? In fact, the point has been made that ALL U.S. foreign aid is handed out to influence countries to provide friendly cooperation to the U.S. when asked. In other words, a quid pro quo.

What? You thought the U.S. handed out money to nations just because of altruism?

What the committee knows will come to light if/when they decided to actually impeach the President. For now, it's just information gathering
Seems more like "proceedings," in authoritarian places like the USSR,than in western Judeo Christian Constitutional places.

"Innoocent until proven guilty"

"Confront your Accuser"

Just a few things, which escape the democrats, the media, and some weak minded republicans.

} Witch hunt, Kangaroo Court, Star Chamber, Secret inquisition}

Why not just start the fires, put him on the rack and make him admit his misdeeds?

You don't even believe what you said.

But, if you need clarification on the Impeachment Process in the HoR here is a detailed explanation

Riddle me this, Robin?

What is the underlying "high crime or misdemeanor," that will convince enough Senator (2/3), to remove him? Convince me that public opinion will fall historians argue that Nixon might have survived a Senate vote. Clinton was not removed, because public opinion was on his side. If asked many believe he was in the process of being driven from office, over a sex act.

So again Robin, educate me.

A phone call! :mauslaff:

Democrats’ brains have overloaded on Trump hate and are malfunctioning. You’ll have to look closely, though—it’s hard to tell a break-down from their normal state.

If/when we get the Articles of Impeachment we can decide whether or not they're enough.

When Andrew Johnson was impeached these are the Articles that the Senate voted on:

"1. Appointing Thomas Secretary of War ad interim despite the lack of vacancy in the office, since the dismissal of Stanton had been invalid.

2. Appointing Thomas without the required advice and consent of the Senate.

3. Bringing disgrace and ridicule to the presidency by his aforementioned words and actions."

He survived impeachment by 1 vote in the Senate. We'll see what Trump is charged with...

FYI: "high crime and misdemeanor" doesn't mean "broke the law".

At the :55 mark you can watch for yourself.

Jonathan Karl was speaking at the :55 mark.  Care to try again?

Mulvaney:  “Let me be clear, there was absolutely no quid pro quo between Ukrainian military aid and any investigation into the 2016 election.  There was never any connection between the funds and the Ukrainians doing anything with the server - this was made explicitly obvious by the fact that the aid money was delivered without any action on the part of the Ukrainians regarding the server.”

That's the starting point. Watch from there.

Here is what Mulvaney said beginning at the 1:00 mark:

MR. MULVANEY: The look back to what happened in 2016 certainly was part of the thing that he was worried about in corruption with that nation. And that is absolutely appropriate.

Mulvaney is 100% correct here.  It is appropriate to worry about election corruption.  And again, there is no quid pro quo.  Because if you really believe a threat to cut off funding is synonymous with an exchange of value between two parties, then Obama should be under the jail for threatening to cut off federal funding to the State of North Carolina simply because that State decided that women's restrooms were for women's use while men's restrooms were for women's use.

But since you seem confused, here is the legal definition:

quid pro quo:  something given or received for something else

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/quid%20pro%20quo

So I must ask, what is it that was given to Ukraine, and what was received in return in exchange for that gift?  Inquiring minds want to know.  Because Mulvaney never mentioned, much less addressed a question about such an exchange.  The aid money was already appropriated long before the corruption question came up.  And the conversation with Trump was about a future sale - not current aid.

Like I said before, the members of this forum are able to think critically and apply reason and logic to their thinking processes.  We don't simply repeat some news account as if it were based in fact.  You will be pressed for evidence to back up your claim and make your case.  And so far, you have proven completely lacking in that endeavor.

Answer me this simple question, @OfTheCross :  Why should, following three years of this administration and only a year before the election,  this President be removed by vote of Congress rather than by vote of the People?    What justifies this usurpation of the Peoples' right to decide this matter for themselves?
@Jazzhead
The rats are making the case of Abuse of Power in seeking election dirt on Biden, and Obstruction of Justice in covering it up.  The lawless President and the Constitution justify impeachment.  The Senate will have to decide if the President is removed.  You'll have to ask McConnell why he is usurping the people's right to choose their President if the Senate votes to convict.

Karl: "So the demand for an investigation into the Democrats was part of the reason that it was ordered to withhold funding to Ukraine?"

Mulvaney: "The look-back to what happened in 2016 certainly was part of the thing that he was worried about in corruption with that nation. And that is absolutely appropriate."

Karl: "But to be clear, what you just described is a quid-pro-quo: the funding will not flow unless you're getting an investigation into the Democratic server happened as well."

Mulvaney: "We do that all the time with foreign policy. We were holding up money at the same time to the Northern Triangle countries so they would change their policies on immigration.

I'm not stuck on the quid pro quo angle. Although, it certainly seems like what the Administration was attempting to do.

Nobody is talking about removal.  We are talking about a political process called impeachment.  The rats in the House are making the case of Abuse of Power in seeking election dirt on Biden, and Obstruction of Justice in covering it up.  The lawless President and the Constitution justify impeachment.  The Senate will have to decide if the President is removed.  We are not at that point...yet.

Zelenskyy - specifically we are almost ready to buy more Javelins from the United States for defense purposes.
Trump - I would like you to do us a favor though

Karl - not Mulvaney - is the one characterizing it as "quid-pro-quo".  And as Mulvaney said, the US does it all the time - holding up money to affect foreign policy.  It is the whole purpose behind foreign aid.  It isn't 'quid pro quo', nor did Mulvaney see it that way.  Just more fake news.  It is no different than Obama blocking a shipment of missiles to Israel to persuade them to pull out of Gaza.  But then when Obama does it, we don't have a bunch of leftists screaming "IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE".

Congrats, @Once-Ler.  You actually seem to be on target.  Too bad the leftists are too stupid to figure that one out.  They are so accustomed to pushing out fake news that they can't put together facts for a real story.

Now you are going to make me go read through the Trump transcript.  Not that this thread has a damn thing to do with that.  But you have definitely sparked my curiosity.  Thank you, sir.

Maybe there wouldn't be a dustup if a Democrat did it.  Uh, make that 'Definitely'.  The double-standard in play here is astounding.  Seriously, think about it.  The latest ploy to overturn the 2016 election is to impeach Trump for Biden's corruption.

To take the positions of democrats, of media and of weak Repulicans,

One woulld easily overlook the substance of the "dirt."

Following the 2016 election, a reasonable interest by the CEO of America, would be political corruption, in particular by democrats.
Trump followed a 1998 treaty signed by Clinton, asking for assistence.

By the way, where is the "dirt?" Is it in the hands of corrupt intelligence agencies? Not published by biased news agencies?

Nope.  Been busy.  But after your post, I took the liberty of reading it.  (I did know about the javelin missile part, which no Democrat is talking about).  We probably need a separate post so that everyone can see it.  It is not easy to follow (classic Trump).  Especially since Zelenskyy talks exactly like Trump.  But I don't see anything wrong with it.  It is clear that Biden himself put the issue in the public arena by bragging about how he withheld US Aid to abort an investigation of the company providing his personal gravy train.  That is far beyond Trump's request to end the lawlessness and put the rule of law back into effect.  It isn't his fault that Biden happened to be the corrupt one.  Nor was any exchange made.  And from a practical sense, no one should ever confuse Joe Biden as a political rival.  His chance of winning any election outside of Delaware is less than 1%.  And the fact that he openly bragged about his son being the bagman for his own political graft disqualifies him even more.

@Hoodat I'm relieved you think that Ukrainian call was perfect.  I suspect we will all become familiar with javelin missiles by next election.  I don't care about the Hunter Biden story but I've been forced to learn enough to consider it irrelevant.

I'm not sure how to respond to that reality warped slop.  I can tell it's joke of some sort but the humor eludes me
