An F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to Spangdahlem Air Base crashed in Germany on Tuesday during a routine training flight, according to the Air Force.

The pilot was able to eject and was rescued with minor injuries, the service said in a news release. Emergency services were on the scene, according to the German police.

The single-engine fighter, belonging to the 480th Fighter Squadron, 52nd Fighter Wing, crashed around 3 p.m. local time in Zemmer, roughly six miles from the base, officials said.
