Mike Pompeo on Democrat Thugs in Congress: They Violated Rules – Told State Dept. Officials “Not to Contact” Legal Counsel before Testimony

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is holding meetings in Italy, held a press conference on Wednesday afternoon in Rome.

Secretary of State Pompeo told reporters he was on the July 25th Ukrainian call which would be expected. He also said the policy with Ukraine is consistent. Of course, this is what the liberal media latched onto.

But then Pompeo dropped these bombs on the street thugs and goons running the US House committees.
 

Pompeo told reporters how Democrats in the House violated fundamental principles, contacted State Department officials directly and told them NOT to contact legal counsel.

And we won’t tolerate folks on Capital Hill bullying, intimidating State Department employees.

They go to herculaean lengths to 'protect' the whistleblower, but want to strip State Dept employees of their basic civil and constitutional rights.

So, "Congress" has been contacting individuals working for the SoS, to inform them not to hire counsel?  This seems odd.  They think they are Andrew McCabe, telling suspects they don't need a lawyer.  Their intentions are perfectly honorable, I assume.

Rule:  If somebody from the government says you don't need a Lawyer, hire two.

It worked so well with Gen Flynn they thought they'd make it SOP - they improved the procedure by making it an order, not a suggestion.

Explain to me how that is possible given what the Constitution says on the subject:

Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

ARTICLE I, SECTION 3, CLAUSE 7 (Emphasis added by me)

This means the Senate has the option of disqualifying the subject from being elected again, but does not have to exercise that option.  This actually happened when an AZ Governor was impeached and removed in the 80's.  Invoking the "Dracula Clause" (no run for future office) was debated at the time, and was rejected.

With all due respect @Cyber Liberty I disagree! The language is quite clear to me:

Differing minds can agree... :shrug:  I'm just going with what I saw happen before, knowing the State and National Constitutions are likely different.
