Ex-Trump lawyer John Dowd expected to represent Giuliani's Ukraine 'fixers'

President Trump's former personal attorney John Dowd is in talks to represent two businessmen born in the former Soviet Union who played a central role in Rudy Giuliani's inquiries into Ukraine.

Dowd left Trump's legal team in March 2018, about a month before Giuliani joined. He is expected to be retained by Ukraine-born Lev Parnas and Belarus-raised Igor Fruman as early as Friday, a source with direct knowledge told the Washington Examiner.

Parnas and Fruman, who were issued subpoenas this week by a trio of House committees as part of an impeachment inquiry into Trump, could not immediately be reached for comment. Dowd declined to comment on the record.

Dowd would represent the men during congressional investigations.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., blessed an impeachment inquiry last week after a whistleblower disclosed that Trump had pressured Ukraine to help investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter, as well as look into Ukrainian links to the 2016 hacking of Democratic emails.

Parnas and Fruman helped arrange a January meeting in New York between then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko and Giuliani, according to reports.
