by Ellie Bufkin
September 30, 2019 04:44 PM A senior State Department official has said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was part of the controversial phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 25, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
The connection reveals a closer link to the call and the State Department than previously reported as the House of Representatives prepares to launch an impeachment inquiry into Trump's dealings with Ukraine.
Pompeo was subpoenaed Friday by three House committees for documents related to the president's relationship with Ukraine and has until Oct. 4 to produce them. Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, was also subpoenaed by House committees on Monday for documents related to the whistleblower complaint that launched the inquiry.
