TRIPOLI

Eight mercenaries linked to forces loyal to military commander Khalifa Haftar have been killed, said Libya’s internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) on Thursday.

The mercenaries were working for a Russian firm called the Wagner Group (also known as PMC Wagner or CHVK Vagner), the GNA’s Burkan Al-Ghadab (Volcano of Rage) military operation said on social media.

The statement said the mercenaries had been preparing for an offensive against the capital Tripoli.

Analysis, this Turkish news agency is not to be totally trusted... but in this instance, they are saying the GNA (Government of National Accord) is the one who said this. That sounds possible.  It wouldn't benefit the press agency to say GNA said it and lied about it.

Also, per some reports on Syria, it's pretty amazing to read that Russian soldiers and/or Russian mercenaries get killed. Most of those reports I don't put much stock in.  But... it could indeed be happening.

Adding in this, "Interpreter Mag" which is related to Radio Free Europe, they merged,  "Interpreter Mag" translates:

Translator’s note: This document reveals that Russian agents of the Company made agreements with Mohamed Hamdan Degalo, known as Hemedti, the commander of Sudan’s notorious Janjaweed militia and Rapid Support Forces responsible for acts of genocide in Darfur and mass murder in Khartoum. Hemedti agreed to enter the Libyan civil war in order to, optionally, attack forces allied to Haftar’s LNA or to support the warlord’s assault on Tripoli. That's a mouthful. See how it implicates Russian involvement over there.

And yes, a lot of foreign forces are involved over there including the Sudanese. They must think it's important to be involved. Maybe it is.

Haftar says he is fighting to keep radicals, Muslim Brotherhood out of government, that's my basic understanding and he says they are there in Tripoli. I don't know. A lot of people would say that is false.

He certainly has quite an array of people supporting him though.

A good twitter account to follow on Libya, though, he/she talks of skirmishes that happen but doesn't really shed much light on who are the good guys, who are the bad guys, maybe I should read it closer.
