President Trump's approval jumps to 52%
« on: September 20, 2019, 02:58:19 pm »
Rasmussen's daily tracking poll shows the President rising to a 52% approval level as of this morning. Rasmussen is generally more favorable to Republicans than some of the network polls...in large part because it is a "Likely Voter" poll rather than an "all adults or registered voter" sample. But the important aspect of this poll is the trend line rather than the absolute rating. On September 2nd the President was at 45% and the rating has since risen by a statistically significant 7%.

Notably, the RCP polling average is now approaching 45% (44.7 as of this morning).

Yes, polls must be taken with a huge grain of salt. Yes, polls are at best a snapshot at a specific moment...not meant to be "predictive". And yes, most polling is shaded to favor leftist candidates (via methodology and partisan weighting). And finally, it is also true that it is false to say polls don't matter and should be ignored.
