Ted Cruz eyes the White House: ‘I hope to run again’

When the Texas Republican ran in 2016, it was ‘the most fun I’ve ever had in my life,’ he said. At Thursday’s Monitor Breakfast, the senator also talked guns and the ‘purpling’ of Texas.

...hmmm.... he is much needed in the Senate, but in 2024 I think he is going to be the GOP's answer to a much needed conservative. He of course will be in the fight for his life, but it sounds like perhaps he's been planning for quite some time.

Glad to see it.

I voted for Cruz in California's meaningless 2016 primary.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

I voted for him as a write-in in Texas in 2016.  I'll vote for him again next time he runs for the Presidency.

Yes, I think even now, he's testing the waters a bit, even for next year with showing up in various news stories like that one about him blocking a nominee or it could be all principle.  It keeps his name in the news. Coming to Bolton's defense, things like that.

He "hopes to run again".   It really is going to depend on if the GOP can hold the oval office and either the Senate or the House in 2020.  If not, you won't see another GOP seated for a very, very long time (if ever) due to the sheer number of illegals now being granted asylum and those that will be eligible to vote in 2024.  The GOP will be outnumbered.  Secondly, if Trump and the GOP lose in 2020, you can almost be certain that the socialists will revamp the electoral process by 2024.

eh - I been hearing that all my life. I don't think that works. There is always gonna be a pushme/pullyou going on. It seems to me that's how they work it... Socialism needs capitalism or it eats its own. That's what the polar camps are for - to keep it swinging back and forth.

It really doesn't matter to me until Conservatism gets a shake.
But I dunno if I can swallow voting for Cruz anymore. He's fallen far... He's in the 80s on his scorecard anymore.

I liked Ted Cruz back in 2016 and in some ways I still do, but when he boarded the Trump.train, I stopped trusting him.  He's a good, all around conservative, but in the end he's a politician like all the others in DC.     Not sure what I will do if Cruz decides to run for the presidency.

No rocks from me.  I think you may be right.  In 2016 voters made it clear they preferred a reality tv star over a solid conservative.  They are all too easily dazzled by celebrity BS.

There's a one-season series on NETFLIX called 'Designated Survivor-Sixty Days'

About a low-cabinet appointee, who was next-in-line to assume the presidency after a bombing.

It's Korean, but it will grab your attention immediately...it's exactly what you're talking about, @Applewood

Sounds vaguely like the Designated Survivor series that ran on ABC.  I'll check it out.  Thx.

You're right of course.  And I hope Trump supporters realize that too.  I was once told by one of them that Trump isn't a politician and that's why this person liked him.    Well, if he wasn't before, he is now.

Finally after 3 years of Trump he is just now starting to speak out. Realize he is a member of a political party that the President controls and all of us have seen multiple twitter storms involving people that cross the President.
Electoral survivability is important to all politicians.  Supreme Court Justice may be the best option for him here though doubtful Trump would ever appoint him, too Conservative.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

That would be a very strong and IMHO unbeatable ticket --- HOWEVER, even with Cruz as his VP -- Trump implements red flag laws and I still would still refrain from voting for him.

I hope he runs again.

No rocks here either.  Country has moved too far left to ever elect anyone this conservative.
