American Jews Are in Total Denial about the Democratic Party
By Ron Jager

Not a day goes by without Jews being shot in their synagogues, stabbed, bludgeoned by blocks, physically attacked, pushed to the ground, spat on, and cursed; without graffiti on the walls of Jewish institutions, graffiti on the walls of synagogues; without victims killed, maimed for life, traumatized, hospitalized, extended rehabilitation.  The list goes on and on.  Older Chassidic Jews, young orthodox Jews, Conservative Jews, Reform Jews, non-affiliated Jews — they are all targeted, irrespective of their level of Jewishness, irrespective of whether they look or act Jewish.  They are preyed upon only because they are Jews.  The daily incidents now pass without much notice.  A steady and acceptable level of violence and hate targeting Jewish people anywhere and everywhere is seemingly quietly condoned and accepted as a daily fact of American life.

Where are the powerful Jewish American organizations that are always at the forefront of helping others? We Jews are always there to be the first to extend a helping hand — donate funds, arrange media attention, pull strings with politicians, enlist leading newspapers.  Yet when it comes to defending American Jews against the spiraling epidemic of physically violent anti-Semitic attacks, there is a deafening silence.  Jewish organizations that were built for the precise purpose of navigating times like these are to a large extent inadequate, unresponsive, and restrained, as if they do not want to rock the boat, as if they are careful not to demand accountability from those that are entrusted to protect us.  Too many of these Jewish organizations are operating with a myopic moral compass that guides their largely pathetic indifference.  They deny the urgency of the clear and present danger to the well-being of American Jews.

I've been under the impression that a lot of "American Jews" that hate themselves, or at least Israel.  These are the sort of folks who looked forward to the ride in the cattle car.

This American Jew (I am actually now a Messianic Jew, but never mind for now) quit kidding himself about Democrats a long time ago. It only began with his reading about FDR rejecting ships bringing Jewish refugees from Hitler from docking on American shores.

But this American Jew also quit kidding himself long enough ago that either Democrats or Republicans stand foursquare for the things I care about most in temporal terms.

I care about freedom, what's left of it.

I care about individual rights, sovereignty, and responsibility.

I care about a properly-construed government---whose sole legitimate business, other than protecting and defending us against predators at home (real predators, not mere vicemongers) and enemies actual and provably iminent from abroad, is to stay the hell out of your business, my business, everyone's business, until or unless one would obstruct or abrogate another's equivalent rights.

And I reject the improperly-consecrated State that believes its legitimate business to be poking its nose and extending its tentacles into every last cranny of your business, my business, everyone's business, regardless that it is neither competent nor Constitutionally sanctioned to do so.

We've known for long enough that the Democratic Party stands foursquare on behalf of the improperly-consecrated State. Saying Democrats are statists is like saying the sun rose this morning. Thank you, Captains Obvious.

But enough people we know still haven't figured out that the Republican Party has too long stood against the State in rhetoric alone, that its actual rejection of statism has dissipated in considerable amounts, and that this was so long before today. As a matter of fact, if I were a Republican approaching the 2008 primaries I would have made this book required reading for every Republican wishing to qualify to vote in those primaries:

I am today and have been since 2004 a non-affliated voter. I was a member of the Libertarian Party until I discovered, approaching that election, that then-Libertarian presidential candidate Harry Browne was hell bent on making sure the LP was operated like a Chicago political machine on behalf of getting him a second LP presidential nomination. (Which proved, among other things, that there do come times when it's wise not to step beyond your known competences. God rest his soul, as an economist Harry Browne stood eloquently athwart the State with a fine gift for reducing the Dismal Science's convolutions to simple but effective and even lyrical terms; as a politician, alas, Browne was a manipulator and conniver who would have felt right at home among such renowned and corrupt machines as Daley's Democrats in Chicago, Prendergast's Democrats in Kansas City, Manhattan's Tammany Hall, or Joe Margiotta and Alfonse D'Amato's Republicans in Nassau County on Long Island.)

Since coming to live in Nevada, with the state not allowing for write-in votes, I have since exercised my right to select "None of These Candidates" quite liberally, if you'll pardon the expression, and I've had no regret about casting any such vote.

But I do confess, once again, that if I did have a write-in vote in Nevada in 2016, my vote would have gone to Groucho Marx, on three solid grounds:

1) He once said, Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it, and misapplying the wrong solutions. Which showed more political wisdom than ejaculated from the mouth of any candidate in any race that year.

2) As Artemus Ward once said, if we can't have a live man who amounts to anything, by all means let us have a first class corpse.

3) If the dead can still vote in Chicago (and elsewhere, for all I know), why can't the living vote for the dead? Dead manpersons tell no tales and wreak no mischief.

The Rhineland Hypothesis asserts that the 7th century Muslim occupation
of their ancient homeland in Palestine, drove the Jews into Europe where
they were often nomadic.
While in Europe, over centuries, they became increasingly secularized and
embraced material progress as their cultural norm.
They brought these values to the New World where they became pillars of
of the hard socialist left and modern Democrat Party.

I've been under the impression that a lot of "American Jews" that hate themselves, or at least Israel.  These are the sort of folks who looked forward to the ride in the cattle car.

Whoa.  Let's take a breath and a step back here.

Many Jewish Americans consider themselves to be … well, American.  And it is that good old, feisty Americanism that rails against being told anywhere else is really their legitimate homeland with the expectation they be loyal to it with heart, soul, mind, body and wallet.  (As I've been told more than a few times through the years, "the last we'll do" --"there are still holocaust survivors and other hungry people in Israel".  happy77 )  Additionally, many of Jewish American's sympathy rests with the Palestinians---not their plan to destroy Israel, but for their plight and abysmal living conditions. I've heard many talk for hours about the  "injustice" to the "native" Palestine people.  It's during these discussions that I'd hear "Israel is now Goliath" -- said with lowered eyes and a deep sigh.

As for the ties to the Democrat Party--the Jewish history and culture is a tribal one -- a collective way of living and surviving.  This history draws them to what the Roosevelt democrats promised.  I've been trying to help some of my friends see the realities, but the belief in the goodness of Democrats is so strong I'm guessing it's now being passed through the blood.

I've also not experienced the Jewish "self-hatred" often mentioned as an American malady.   I've experienced people who are very much alive, very much engaged, very warm-hearted and caring.  The only downside I see is so many believe the Democrats are the last best hope of collectivism --- and that this is how man is meant to live.
