“More Than 500 Years”: Ohio State Course Says MUSLIMS Helped Build America
belle belle August 31, 2019

A new course at Ohio State University aims to highlight the role that Muslims played in making America great — from the founding fathers to the news of today.

According to The College Fix, “Islam in the United States,” scheduled to debut in Ohio State’s spring session, will be instructed by Dr. Sabra Webber and will argue that Muslims have always been an essential element of the American experience.

The course comes at a time when some Americans are accusing President Donald Trump of being anti-Muslim or even racist for issuing an executive order that temporarily bans visits or immigration into the U.S. from seven scheduled countries because of their reputation for exporting terrorists.

Well, they were important early on.  We wouldn't have built the Marine Corps as quickly if we hadn't had to deal with Muslim piracy in our first foreign war ("...to the shores of Tripoli").  And, one can justify a 500 year time-frame:  Columbus would never have sailed west if it weren't for Muslims making trade between Europe and the Far East via the Indian Ocean and along the old Silk Road impossible.  (I know, he might have had a Viking map and expected to find "new" lands, but the funding was justified on the basis of finding another, non-Muslim-infested route to the Indies.)

Somehow I don't think that's the take the course will offer, but there is a legitimate case in actually factual history for noticing the influence of Islam on America's history.  Yeah, they've always been part of "the American experience", but it's always been rather like the way they were part of the "American experience" on 9/11/2001.

And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

Well, they did a great deal to promote the slave trade, which helped Southern plantation owners enormously with their fixed labor costs...  :smokin:
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

  • That is the problem with everything. They try and make it better without realizing the old is fine.

They were just some people that did something......
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

So... are they gonna re-write history to reflect a "positive" role Muslims played ... while ignoring the negative effects, per usual?  Sounds about par.
No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

I agree with this sentiment. I also agree with teaching the course. Ultimately, history is just the stories people that did things.
If a well-regulated militia be the most natural defense of a free country, it ought certainly to be under the regulation and at the disposal of that body which is constituted the guardian of the national security.

Woody Hayes taught an American History class there,  while he was the head coach.    He certainly would not have approved.
