President Trump’s reelection campaign announced Tuesday he will hold a rally in Fayetteville, N.C., on Sept. 9 as the president seeks to solidify support in a key swing state.
“President Trump has transformed the economy of North Carolina, creating more than 175,000 jobs in the state since he was elected,†said Michael Glassner, the Trump campaign’s chief operating officer. “President Trump will be returning to the great state of North Carolina to celebrate his historic achievements on behalf of the American people and his long record of accomplishments in the state.â€
The rally will come the day before the special election in North Carolina's 9th Congressional District, in which Fayetteville partially falls. The president has already endorsed Republican Dan Bishop in the contest.
The president has steadily increased the frequency of his campaign events in recent months as the Democratic primary begins to heat up, holding rallies in Florida, Ohio, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, all swing states in the general election.
The rally, which will be held at the Fayetteville Regional Airport, is the second rally Trump has held in the state in recent months, appearing in Greenville in July.
