That's my take on it, too. This endless discussion of who it should be, and what will be the circumstances in the Senate, is purely hypothetical talk that is not unlike a dorm room bull session.
Of course it is hypothetical. But the schism among posters about how to address a possible vacancy is a metaphor for how to advance the interests of conservatives. Do you go for what you want or for what you need, in the context of a change election where the other side appears ready to go all in with a candidate pimping socialism and race war?
