  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
The Russia-Trump Connection was a conspiracy theory until it was disproven.  The hypocrisy of the left is that they use such conspiracy theories against their opposition... even while accusing their opposition of being conspiracy theory nuts and wackos.   Ironic, eh?
The difference is that the Left invents the theory to use as a media bludgeon, treating it as if it is a lost Gospel until brutally disproven. Some will never believe it isn't so, and that is how effective the Big Lie technique really is.

On the Right, people come up with theories to try to explain observations or data which make no sense to them otherwise (which, even if true and correct, are summarily dismissed by the Leftist Press with such vigour, that no one dare publicly embrace the theory for fear of becoming a pariah. Look what was done to Joe McCarthy, and he was right, as time and later disclosure has shown.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

McCarthy was successfully marginalized (destroyed) for his correct "theory" about the threat of communism in the USA back then.   Since then, they have literally infested, infiltrated and become embedded in every aspect of American life.   I daresay Joe is feeling rather vindicated right about now... if he is able to observe from where he is...

even though being right didn't help to save America from the radical left.   The blinders have been only too successfully pulled over a major portion of American citizens eyes since then.  Hard to believe.  And getting more and more surreal by the day.

McCarthy marginalized himself with a fake list of 205 communists. In addition, he engaged in a purge of homosexuals within the government, with the assistance of legendary boy lover and AIDS victim, Roy Cohn.

And that changes exactly nothing WRT the allegations of our government being riddled with Communist apparatchiks. Most of which have since been conclusively proven true.

@XenaLee @Smokin Joe

McCarthy would have been branded as a "conspiracy theorist" but the C_A hadn't introduced that term into the lexicon yet....

When you claim to have a list and it's fake, you're a liar and fraud. If we find out there's an intergalactic being named Xenu someday, it doesn't change the fact L. Ron Hubbard was a phony.

You can believe whatever you like but it doesn't alter the facts one bit.

That's just it. People have been programmed that he was wrong when he was right. Considering the mass media were following, even then, in Goebbels' and Leni Riefenstahl's footsteps, having realized their power in being able to create the narrative, to steer the discussion on or off topic at will, to mold minds and opinions and actions taken, they were on the front lines in a war of belief. While academics were dissecting the Teutonic psyche in an attempt to understand that social pathology, post mortem, others saw an opportunity to utilize the same tactics for their benefit. Unfortunately, that benefit has been less and less aligned with the good of the Republic, and many were card-carrying Communists, whose viewpoint was that their ideology had just prevailed over the National Socialists. All they had to do was believe their own propaganda.

Just what is happening today, only now it is wide open for those who will just see it.

Whenever I witness someone demonizing McCarthy as "having lied".... I have to wonder about their agenda.   And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

FFS.

McCarthy did lie about the list. When pressed to reveal it, he only offered one name. A vote for his condemnation was initiated, in 1954, by a Republican senator. Flanders was no friend of communism and understood how McCarthy’s antics undercut the fight against spread of communism.

'In every country in which communism has taken over,' he reminded the Senate, 'the beginning has been a successful campaign of division and confusion.' He marveled at the way the Soviet Union was winning military successes in Asia without risking its own resources or men, and said this nation was witnessing 'another example of economy of effort ... in the conquest of this country for communism.' He added, 'One of the characteristic elements of communist and fascist tyranny is at hand as citizens are set to spy upon each other.' 'Were the junior Senator from Wisconsin in the pay of the communists, he could not have done a better job for them.' 'This is a colossal innocence, indeed.'

Similarly, this crackpot Byrne is not helping at all, where legitimate problems in the FBI are concerned.

Now tell me that isn't happening here (again). When the GCA of 1968 was passed it was a 'hot tip' that led to Kenyon Ballew being raided and shot over novelty grenades. Now, the push is for Red Flag laws--and that's just with guns.

What do you think "See something Say something " is really about? (Hint: It isn't the local jihadi).

Another trick is to claim to be something they are not.  "An act to protect..." often contains language that does anything but protect the subject of the Bill.

You say Flanders was no friend of Communism, but the net effect was that he couldn't have helped it more. He didn't just discredit McCarthy, but made the entire hunt for entrenched and infiltrated Communists into a "witch hunt" in the eyes of the public.

What better smokescreen for the Marxists to operate under?

Within a decade, the Communists were making serious inroads into the Democrat Party, and by the late 70s, that coup was pretty much done. Now, they don't even make pretense of not being Marxist, and openly call themselves "Socialist" (Communist lite, SSDN).
...and virtually every one of the 1963 goals has been accomplished.

As an addendum to your brilliant post above @Smokin Joe:

The United States Department of State cut the legs out from under General Chang in China forcing his retreat to Formosa (Taiwan now) which ceded mainland China to Mao. That played a very large role in bringing about the Korean and Vietnam wars.  Then they proceed to betray the enemies of Castro who had escaped Cuba and come here to organize an effort to take their country back.  Under the pretense of helping them in that effort, they instead exposed them on a Cuban beach for Castro to do with as he pleased.  Tried to do the same in Nicaragua and would have got that done as well but for a couple of TRUE American patriots by the names of Oliver North and John Poindexter.

Anyone who does not believe that our federal National government was and is riddled with Communist operatives is very much delusional.

Had the air strikes proceeded in support of the expatriate Cuban invasion to re-take their government from the Communists, the Cuban air force and armor could have been destroyed with little opposition.
Instead, citing State Department sources, (closely tied to a NYT article/writer), Kennedy called off the air operation (with disagreement from CIA, who knew Castro was a communist who had no intention of setting up democratic government in Cuba) , and that cancellation of air support directly led to the failure of the counterrevolution, as Cuban air and armor factored heavily in defeating the expatriate force.
The debacle is now known as The Bay of Pigs invasion, and likely would have been successful had the original plan been followed. Two years later, we were looking down the nosecones of Soviet made IRBMs, doubtless for the purpose of a nuclear launch, and capable of reaching Washington, D.C. (The Cuban Missile Crisis for those who aren't up to speed.)
We lived 50 air miles south of DC at the time, and it is the only time I saw serious concern from my father, who mapped out our escape route from the peninsula we were on to Virginia (by water) in the event the balloon went up.
Dad was right, in that not only would land routes have taken us into or toward fallout, but the roads would have been clogged. Only by water could we have made it out in a timely fashion.
