FWIW:  I had lunch with a liberal Democrat friend of mine the other day and she said she is getting the same "you have to vote for" nonsense -- only it's for whoever the Democrat nominee will be and it's to save America from Trump and the Republicans.

We both agree we don't like anyone telling us how to vote.

Trump says lots of things. But it’s what he’s done—his track record—that’s gaining him growing respect and increasing support for his re-election. The hope part is over. It’s Miller time.

It isn't over by a long shot.  If he signs any bills that are destructive of our RKBA, he will lose my 2020 vote.

@libertybele

You, me, and millions of others.

I had to overlook a lot to vote for him in 2016.  I was willing to continue to do the same for 2020.  But if he signs any bills that infringe upon our RKBA, I will not be able to vote for him in 2020.

Weakening his re-election chances. Signal received.

When he said the "you have to vote for me" words, he got louder and louder, hanging onto that subject for a while, listing over and over why they had to vote for him.

For the faithful they loved it - I think the general public will be put off hearing that, as though they are his prisoners having to do his bidding - they may vote otherwise just to show him they are independent - not glued to him.  He should not use this talking point due to the general public reaction of "You don't own me, I can do what I want.", but he will.

You are right, @Victoria33, it was cringeworthy to hear him say that.  That is a huge turnoff for millions of independent-minded people, of all stripes.

The mythical ‘send a signal’ vote. Who are you punishing by withholding your vote? Trump? GOP? Or, the country when a democrat wins?

A protest vote is meaningless in the real world of politics.

I have to question your judgment.

I heard him say it. I believe it was kinda meant as a good natured tweak to the Sununus, who opposed him in the primaries.

Its definitely worse reading the words because the humor in them doesn't translate to print, as the media well knows. And as Trump should know by now, as well.

@aligncare and so many others are trying to make you feel guilty for exercising your right to vote however you wish.  I got the same thing back in 2016.  Didn't listen to this nonsense then and won't listen to it now.

Well, if it was meant as a good natured tweak to the Sununus, @skeeter,  he should have tweaked them in private, before/after the rally!!

When I hear things like that, it makes me go:  :thud:

Anthony Scaramucci: Trump will drop out of the 2020 race by March

by Hunter Lovell

August 16, 2019 06:53 PM

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said he believes President Trump will drop out of the 2020 presidential race by March of next year.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Scaramucci said lagging poll numbers will cause Trump so much humiliation that he will not want to see himself lose to the Democratic nominee in November 2020.

"It’s gonna become very clear that it’s impossible for him to win," Scaramucci claimed. "And is this the kind of guy that’s gonna want to be that humiliated and lose as a sitting president? He’s got the self-worth in terms of his self-esteem of a small pigeon. It’s a very small pigeon."

???  Your logic doesn't quite make sense.   IF Trump tramples on the @2A, or any other rights as he has stated, then HE is weakening his re-election chances.  His thinking that he can do whatever the heck he wants and people will still vote for him is absolute pure b.s.

So ... explain to me ... IF he tramples on our rights now when he's seeking re-election what's to stop him from continuing to do so once he re-elected?

You do realize that if the Constitution is dismantled we will lose our Republic; so explain further to me, what would be the difference then if voting for him or one of the bat crap crazy leftists?

If you want to blame anyone blame yourself.  The people who voted for him in 2016 have had this entire time to register dissatisfaction with the bad choices he has made.  Instead its always excuses.  Perhaps if his voters would have held his feet to the fire and expected him to do as he said, he could enjoy full support.  But in truth many of the Trumps fans are democratic leaning and have not cared that Trump has done everything Chuck and Nancy asked for.  And he is getting ready to throw Veterans and the Second Amendment under the bus.

There isn't a single victory he has won that concerns me and my family.  In fact Border and immigration is what he campaigned on and it is what affects me.  I have no reason to vote for him.  And he isn't any more Conservative than creepy Joe Biden. (who I would never vote for either)

Trump is a dud that thinks he should be the bad gift that keeps giving.  The entire thing is offensive.  The fact that he thinks everyone has to vote for him.  Also the fact that he thinks he should be a third and fourth term president.  Like we should be stuck with this clown forever.

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

I think that Trump was giving a clue to mental health when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and people would still vote for him.  If he is going to make Red Flag laws he should be the first to loose his rights to bear arms.

He certainly said the right things at the rally last evening, let's hope he does the right thing when these bills are put on his desk.

@EdJames what he says to fire up a crowd and what he actually does have ended up being two different things as we've seen over the last three years.

If Jeb had won the primary, and trump ran third party, I wonder if we'd still be told there's only two choices?

My conscience would be killing me if I didn’t do my part to stand firmly against the growing socialist [sic] threat to America. Withholding my vote does not compute

President Trump is the only thing standing between us and the International Left—Democrat Party chapter.

Self answering question right?

Self answering question right?

What makes anybody so sure Donald Trump would have run third party? I don’t think he would have. There, that was easy. Hypotheticals are so convenient.

Libertybele, you said, "IF Trump tramples on the @2A, or any other rights as he has stated, then HE is weakening his re-election chances.  His thinking that he can do whatever the heck he wants and people will still vote for him is absolute pure b.s."

He has figured out a way to "please" both sides of the gun thingy by saying it is the mentally sick who kill with a gun.  He said we need to build mental hospitals in which to put these people before they kill people.

This does two things -(1)  lets him build mental hospitals to show he did it to stop killing (each hospital likely being "Trump Mental Hospital Texas" (using each state's name as he builds them in all states).  (2)  doesn't tick off gun owners and NRA.

I feel sure he will keep pushing this "solution".

All of us knew if he was elected we would possibly be stuck with him for 8 years (GHWB being the outlier).  Hell, even Nixon was reelected. That's why 15/16 was so important. Who knows where Trump will go if we lose the Senate.
   We are screwed.
