Former CIA Director John Brennan appears none-too-happy with President Donald Trump’s selection for the next Director of National Intelligence (DNI), calling Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX) a “servile Trump loyalist.”

“Dan Coats served ably & with deep integrity. Ratcliffe showed abject subservience to Trump in Mueller hearings,” Brennan wrote on Twitter Monday. “The women & men in the Intelligence Community deserve a leader like Coats who puts nation first; not a servile Trump loyalist like Ratcliffe.”

So Brennan loves Coats.  This should tell you Coats is a snake in the grass who badly needed to be "Mongoosed."

I hate the House losing a top-drawer Congressman like Ratcliffe.

Whether he is a loyalist is not very relevant. Being qualified is. It’s the job of the DNI to gather intelligence from the multiple agencies, condense it, and advise the president on policy direction based upon his analysis and experience. He’s been a prosecutor and a lawyer, with less than a year on the intel committee. There are better choices out there.

While Ratcliffe has only been on the House Intelligence Committee during the 116th Congress, he has been on the House Committee on Homeland Security for both the 115th and 116th Congresses. He was chair of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection and Innovation during the 115th Congress. I don't have the membership list for the 114th Congress, but he authored bills signed into law by Obama that had to do with cybersecurity, suggesting Ratcliffe was on the House Committee on Homeland Security during the 114th Congress.

So Ratcliffe's credentials are much more substantial than just a year on the House Intelligence Committee.
