Roy rage: GOP congressman tears into Democrats, storms out of House hearing

Freshman Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, delivered a devastating condemnation of House Democrats Thursday, excoriating Congress for wasting time on a “fishing expedition” into White House communications while the national debt explodes and the border crisis remains unsolved.

“What are we trying to find?” an incredulous Roy asked at a House Government Oversight and Reform Committee hearing after Democrats voted to subpoena White House officials for access to their private emails.

As Politico reports, the Democrats argue that senior White House aides including Ivanka Trump may have violated the Presidential Records Act by conducting official government business on private email servers. But as Roy pointed out, Ivanka Trump has already acknowledged this and is working with the committee to provide it with the requested emails. There should be no need for a subpoena....

I think this is the one that Wendy Davis wants to run against.  Chip is very solid, but since he's a good conservative he's going to have a hotly contested race next time around.

I attribute Chip Roy's close race to the Robert Francis effect- all the democrap money thrown into Texas to defeat Cruz carried over. Our district is mostly conservative if you go by square miles, but the problem is the Gerry-mandered area in Austin.

I had that problem when we lived in Phoenix.  Our safe Rat district was a mess, because they included Tempe (college town) and the Barrios of the downtown Phoenix corridor.  I lived 35 miles from that area of Phoenix.  We're happy now...nice tidy-shape district, in the reddest county in AZ.

And a big reason to change the House over to the GOP is to make people like Cummings and Nadler backbenchers once again.

I would have asked him why it didn't seem to matter when Hillary Clinton was refusing to comply with requests and subpoenas for her emails, and was then busy destroying them.  Funny how there was no interest by the Democrats in "the law" then.
