US citizen reportedly released from Syrian government detention

Experts say that President Trump's policies and focus on American hostages abroad is succeeding. Here is a look at the hostages President Trump has brought home.

A U.S. citizen who was detained by the Syrian regime has been released in a deal brokered by the Lebanese government, a Beirut security official announced Friday.

The citizen has been returned to his family and is not Austin Tice, the former U.S. marine turned photojournalist who disappeared from regime-held territory in 2012 while covering the conflict, according to Reuters.

A U.S.-based government security source, who was not authorized to speak on the matter, told Fox News there were some talks taking place but the individual's identity has not been released.

21 is good but this must also include the sad story of Warmbier.

Sam Goodwin is the name of the released individual (are they actually hostages?), anyway....

US citizen released by Syrian regime following Lebanon mediation

Sam Goodwin was originally detained near Qamishli in May

An American citizen detained by the Syrian regime was released on Friday following a diplomatic intervention by Lebanese authorities.

Sam Goodwin
, 30, was arrested in the in the city of Qamishli, north east Syria, after accidentally stumbling across a government checkpoint according to reports.

So, compared to others, he was only in captivity since last May. Not a very long time.  Qamishli is in the Kurd and Christian lands (if I may say so)....it has a semblance of peace.
