Now they tell us: Story says Mueller was hands off, short on stamina

Maybe we now know the real reason that Bob Mueller was so reluctant to testify.

With even liberal commentators conceding that Mueller was a shaky witness during two House hearings, questions are swirling about his mental acuity and his ability to handle the job of special counsel.

Let me say at the outset that I have great respect for Mueller as a decorated Vietnam War veteran and an FBI director so widely admired that Barack Obama asked the George W. Bush appointee to serve a second term.

Let me also say that the hearings shouldn’t be graded only on optics, although they were, like most hearings, designed as political theater. But even on substance, Mueller offered almost nothing that was new, and for all the media hype, that was very much by design.

Still, Mueller’s struggles on the Hill were a real head-scratcher, especially for those who have worked with him.

This theory begs the question.... if Mueller really is/was "hands off" and not mentally acute enough to have authored the Mueller Report....

then who was?  Who is actually pulling those strings...even now?

Who really wrote the Mueller Report?

Weissmann is best known for wildly famous cases of prosecutorial overreach, including his overturned prosecution of Enron officials and the auditing firm Arthur Andersen LLP, which destroyed both firms and put over 100,000 people out of work.

Defense Attorney Sidney Powell, in her 2014 book Licensed to Lie, accuses Weissmann of suborning perjury, something that multiple witnesses in the (newly renamed) Weissman witch hunt have also accused him of doing.

Pointing out that this investigation was a fraud or that he seemed out of it at the hearing does not diminish Mueller's military service. But that's history. We can appreciate what he did nearly 50 years ago and still legitimately question/criticize his wisdom in permitting what Weissmann has been doing over these past two years.

IF Mueller's testimony reflects his overall mental state - I think it's at least plausible - it was the Dems who brought him as their "star witness" for what they intended to be a Stalinistic show-trial. It was their "job" to understand the capabilities and limitations of their "star witness". And however much or little Mueller understood the Dems' purpose, he agreed to testify.

On the other side of the coin, the Rs had to assume Mueller was fully competent and come prepared with questions the Dems would not want asked or answered. Whatever they suspected of Mueller's mental state, that did not change what they needed to do and they could not rely on rumor-grade "information", either in preparation or during the testimony. The Rs had to assume Mueller was fully capable and in cahoots with the Dems. Which is a long way of saying that asking tough probing questions was the right thing for the Rs to do, not being mean to Mueller.
