Venezuelans Living in US Illegally Already Face Little Threat of Deportation

Only 584 of nearly 67,000 recent Venezuelan overstayers have been deported.

The House reportedly will be voting soon on a measure to provide Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to nationals of Venezuela. This status will shield tens of thousands of Venezuelans, many of whom have arrived recently on short-term visas from deportation, enable them to apply for a work permit, and allow them to travel in and out of the United States. Proponents of this move have said that no one should be removed to Venezuela because it is not safe – but in reality, hardly anyone is deported to Venezuela even without the TPS relief, even though it is one of the top countries for overstayers. Instead of expanding use of an immigration program that causes more problems than it solves, Congress should let this sleeping dog lie.

Nope deport them, let them tell the story of just how bad socialism is to the rest of their comrades. Instead we are saying, it doesn't matter if your ruin your place, you can just move on and ruin other places.

39 Republicans — including Dan Crenshaw, Anthony Gonzalez, and Peter King — voted with every House Democrat to give Temporary Protected Status to Venezuela’s population.

The Venezuelans here are generally not the ones who ruined it in the first place.

They are voting on TPS, Temporary Protected Status, no big deal really, no biggie to us that is.

I'd question those that say they voted for this, there elections are said to be crooked going back to the days of Chavez and he's been out now for some years, passing away.

I would think that Venezuelans may have a legitimate claim to asylum.
