House passes measure endorsing all Trump-focused subpoenas

House Democrats on Wednesday moved to strengthen their hand in legal battles against President Trump by passing a measure that endorses the chamber's subpoenas relating to the president, his administration and his businesses.

Democrats put forth the measure at the suggestion of House Counsel Doug Letter after D.C. Circuit Judge Neomi Rao, a Trump appointee, questioned why Congress had not held a vote to authorize the Democrats' investigation into Trump's finances.


The language in the bill "affirms all current and future investigations, as well as all subpoenas previously issued or to be issued in the future" and says House committee subpoenas are endorsed by the chamber.

The text was included as part of a rule for a bill related to multi-employer pensions. That measure passed in a party-line vote.

Yeah well after the DoJ sent Pelosi a letter today saying that they weren't going to go after Barr and Ross for not answering their subpoena's...AND they cited Eric Holder and Fast and Furious as a basis for their denial...I'd say any new subpoenas and any contempt citations aren't going to go anywhere fast.

Karma is a beeotch. Holder played his card, and now it comes back to bite.

The other thing is, Congress can gin up any old supoena on any old topic whether they have jurisdiction or not, without having to prove it's merits to any member of the Judicial branch.

Like trying to get Trump's tax returns before he was President. Sorry, no dice and not their purvue.

I think you're right. The more time they waste on these witch hunt investigations the more sympathetic Trump appears. The Rats are running around with their hair on fire and aren't doing anything about immigration, healthcare, or any other issue. Trump will make sure everyone knows this in 2020.

A great example. The only difference being in this case Trump didn't do anything wrong and was smart enough to listen to his lawyers and didn't testify under oath. It should be obvious to anyone paying attention that Mueller wanted to create a perjury trap. Most people think you can't be accused of perjury if you just tell the truth, but that's not true. If the prosecutor has testimony from someone else that conflicts with what you said, or if you make a secondary statement that conflicts with your first statement you can be prosecuted for perjury.

The Rats don't see it, but they are showing the nation why Trump should be re-elected. He's trying to deal with the big issues in the country and they just want to pursue witch hunts.

Sure, and the MSM was playing down the same charges they played up against Nixon: Obstruction of Justice and Perjury.

Instead of calling for Bubba's head on a platter, they all winked and said "It's just about sex.".
