“Trump's father, Fred Trump, was arrested after a KKK riot in Queens, New York, in 1927.” (Newsweek, 1/15/18.)

“In 1927, Donald Trump’s Father was arrested after a Klan Riot in Queens.” Washington Post (2/29/16.)

(Turns out, the “KKK riot” was in fact a Memorial  Day Parade in which a few  Klan members—minus robes and hoods—participated. And Fred Trump was not among those, as clarified by the Washington Examiner.)   

Nonetheless, it appears that the mainstream media regards the political associations of a U.S. President’ (or U.S. Presidential candidate’s) parent—however brief, tenuous, ancient or bogus-- of enormous import. No?

IIRC, Fred Trump was either a spectator or a passerby, not involved in the parade. One of the things Fred Trump was noted for in the 40s and 50s was being willing to rent to Jewish people at a time when many landlords would not. Not exactly a KKK-like way of doing business.
