ormation of a "home brew" tropical storm appears more likely as a growing mass of drenching showers and gusty thunderstorms over the northern Gulf of Mexico is forecast to congeal as the week progresses.

Non-tropical storms that originate over the U.S. mainland and then develop just offshore over the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic into tropical systems are often referred to by meteorologists as "home brew" tropical storms.

"AccuWeather meteorologists believe this system has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression and could become Tropical Storm Barry later this week," according to AccuWeather Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski.

There is an 80 percent chance that the system becomes a named tropical system in the next five days, AccuWeather meteorologists predict....

Forecast models now consolidating east of Houston. Texans should remain vigilant.

-Nearly all the models have shifted well east of Houston, now favoring the Louisiana coast.

-NHC has increased the probability of development over the next 48 hours to a 70% chance and 80% over the next 5 days.

-The disturbance has finally splashed into the gulf.

   I've lived through many Hurricanes living in Nawlins and Houston my whole life but only the AP02 track has any chance of hitting me on this one and even Harvey couldn't punch through the Balcones Faults in the Texas Hill Country. 
   The Edwards Aquifer is still up 15' above yearly average and the grass is green, who am I to complain?
