When a Republican politician criticises the media, immediately we are deluged with hysterical media claims that its hacks are an oppressed minority. There are editorials warning that America is just one step away from turning into Hungary. And then possibly North Korea or Mordor.
Reporters will be rounded up any minute now and forced to chant patriotic slogans all day long.
And then there's the lack of interest when a Democrat pol best known for wearing funny hats says something truly creepy. Like this.
