You have lost your mind.  I am talking about what it was like, when I was YOUNG, AND DATING.  I AM A SENIOR NOW.

MEN ATTEMPTING TO BE AMOROUS WITH WOMEN..IS SEXUAL ASSAULT?   I AM NOT A SHILL.  I am not advocating anything. I am telling you what it was like when I was young.  IT WAS CALLED DATING.

Your condition is no longer harmless and amusing.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

Notes from a 1990s Bergdorf shopaholic: The E. Jean Carroll story about Trump doesn't add up
By Monica Showalter

Advice columnist E. Jean Carroll is selling a book of her steamy sexual misadventures and sure enough, there's a story about how Donald Trump, circa 1995 or 1996, raped the writer in the dressing room of the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York, a pretty extreme charge buried under a big pile of stories about men who supposedly exploited her, seemingly with her clumsy assent. The Trump administration has denied the whole thing as "completely false."

I find it hard to believe. Carroll does name a long string of men who exploited her one way or another, and some of them are #metoo poster boys, such as Les Moonves, for whom it's easy to be believed about a groping in an elevator, which may well have happened. The earlier charges against Moonves were fairly substantiated. But Trump's been accused of sexual misbehavior, too, often just bad talk, not acts, and there's never been any substantiation. That also makes him an easy target of accusations for the purpose of piling on and selling books as well. Trump himself points out that she is out to sell a book, which might explain why she never made the charges even in the heat of the election back when everyone was trying to take him down or the bitter aftermath.

Carroll describes Trump as all handsome and confident in her 1996 Bergdorf's encounter. That's pretty questionable, actually. Trump was a billionaire on the outs at the time. He was bankrupt, and far from looking all handsome as she described, he looked shambling and seedy in 1996, according to this account of a 1996 encounter with Trump by far more credible writer Mark Bowden. Trump was having money troubles. Would someone like that have gone all criminally violent with some woman he didn't know to add to his legal troubles? I find it hard to believe - he wasn't bulletproof financially at the time. And would Carroll have been the woman he would choose? He was buying beauty contests at the time. The women he was interested in then were young models and beauty queens. Carroll is a nice-looking woman - this photo below shows her about a decade older than she would have been for the encounter with Trump, but she's not beauty contest material at that age. She looks like a wealthy housewife. Would Carroll have been the woman Trump would have found irresistable? Color me a little skeptical. I know a woman that Trump flirted with in 1996 who was quite a bit younger. She sent me emails about it because she was disgusted that he was married, but all the same, he never went beyond flirting; flirtaciousness was actually his limit for those not giving him any encouragement.

Now I understand.  Trump was just "dating" her by pushing her against the wall, ripping her panties off, and stuffing his mushroom in her.  I wonder why she struggled and ran away from their first date?

I wonder why she can't seem to recall the exact date .... or year... in which this supposedly occurred.

Why does a man who has had 19+ sexual assault accusations levied against him get the benefit of the doubt?

To be fair and consistent, PROOF.

And believe me, I am no fan.

Exactly. Trump has a verifiable history of being a prolific liar.

Why would I take his word at anything, much less over the word of more than 19 women? Are they all prolific liars?

But accusations require PROOF.

We are grown-ups here and we know the human body has certain parts for reproduction.  No rape happened - consider the physics of it: let's set the stage:
She says he was dressed in a business suit, plus had on an overcoat.  She had a coat on, too.  She went into a dressing room with him to try on a piece of see-through lingerie.  That in itself is pretty dumb - she was going to undress and try on this while he was in there with her?

The physics problem:
He is holding her against the wall while she is trying to get away.  While he has her pinned against the wall, he manages to, at the same time, push away his coat, unzip his pants, take his penis out from his shorts, bring it to the outside, while still keeping her pinned against the wall, get through her coat, pull down her tights, and insert his penis in her.

The above could not happen unless she was still, letting him do that, agreeing to do it.  She is totally dumb to write it that way, expecting people to believe that.

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I'm not defending Trump.  I am, however, questioning the veracity of this woman's story.  Just because Trump is a known and admitted womanizer does not automatically mean that this story is true.

I used to work for lawyers, principally in defending civil litigation.  In civil cases as well as criminal, a party just can't make a claim against someone and expect the court to take his or her word for it.  The claimant needs proof.  Now Miss Carroll is not taking Trump to court, but she is making a claim and after having worked for lawyers for so long, I find I just can't believe a claim like this without something to back it up.

It appears that Miss Carroll has nothing to support her claim.  No witnesses.  No physical evidence.  Not even a criminal complaint filed.  Oh, she says she told some friends at the time the incident allegedly occurred.  But telling one's friends does not constitute evidence.  Those friends can only say she told them; they were not present to actually witness the alleged incident.

This claim is much like the ones brought against Roy Moore and Justice Kavanaugh.  I really didn't know Kavanaugh and I wasn't a fan of Moore, but I still had to question those flimsy claims made against them.  I sure as hell don't like Trump, but I will do the same for him.  There is a paternity suit pending against Biden's son.  I don't support Biden or any Democrat, but I'm not going to believe that claim either unless the  plaintiff provides evidence sufficient to win her case (or to effect a settlement).  To me, this is the right thing to do.

Hope the above clarifies things a little.

Understood. We all make our own judgments.

For me, Nineteen separate women who don't know each other (and don't know about the other incidents) telling dozens of contemporary witnesses at the time of the alleged incidents is proof enough for me.

A narcissistic man being on tape admitting to not having sovereignty over his predatory sexual urges ("You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Bush: Whatever you want. Trump: Grab ’em by the p---y. You can do anything.) is proof to me.

I'm sure if Ivanka or Tiffany told POTUS about a man taking such liberties with one of them, he would believe them immediately without requiring further proof. Yet, we're supposed to believe all these women are lying. It defies credulity.

Cosby, Weinstein, Clinton, Trump---it's just too many women saying the same thing. I believe the women.

Um... if you have never heard of politically motivated accusations in or (especially) approaching an election year....

and if you are ignorant of past history of these exact same type of accusations having worked splendidly (See:  Herman Cain, for one.  Attempted against Kavanaugh) due to stuckonstupid folks that are either just that naive or that want to believe the lies....

then I don't know what to tell ya.

Bottom line... lefties lie.   All the damned time.  And they don't even really need a motive.   It's just how they roll.

Exactly, I would think a billionaire being near women, often attractive types might catch a few gold diggers.

New Yorker mag has some very leftwing and Democratic leanings from what I have seen about them. For years, they had good cartoons and were possibly somewhat mainstream but this seems to be a different time. I don't really know, I've never really read it but some good cartoons through 80 years or however old it is.

This is about peeling off a bit more of the female vote. Just like the constant (and just as ludicrous) accusations of racism are intended to peel off a few more percentage points of the minority vote.

Its rat political strategy. That should be obvious to even the most dense among us by now.

I may not like Trump at all, but I don't let that cloud my judgement on whether or not an accusation is true.

It's another facet of their usual tactics.... ie throwing enough crap against the wall and hoping some of it sticks... enough to throw a shadow of doubt and cloud over the targeted Republican's candidacy that will cause voters to NOT vote for them.  As for that "dense" factor.... I suspect most of it is sheer hatred of Trump.  They've lost their ability to reason because of it.  (my guess)
