Freshmen congresswoman Ilhan Omar has sparked controversy with new remarks. This time, the remarks in question center around merit-based immigration and the Latino community.
In a tweet which she has since deleted, Omar alleged that merit-based immigration is inherently racist towards Latinos.

Over the past few weeks, the Trump administration has furthered strides towards a merit-based immigration system. Such a system falls in line with the idea that those who emigrate to America ought to be able to support themselves independently and contribute accordingly.
