It's the lavish London hotel favoured by oligarchs and a A-list celebrities where the most opulent suite costs £22,000 ($27,000) a night.

So it is perhaps fitting that Donald Trump, known for his love of extravagant decor, has booked an entire floor of the Corinthia Hotel for his family and extended entourage for this week’s state visit to Britain.

The US President will be accompanied by wife Melania and four of his five children for the visit, which begins on Monday.

The President and his wife are expected to stay at Winfield House, the US Ambassador’s official residence in Regent’s Park, but sources say other members of his family will stay at the five-star Corinthia in Westminster.

US flags line The Mall (although Trump won't parade down it) as London makes last minute preparations for US president's visit - as it emerges palace will use Prince Andrew to diffuse drama with 'golf diplomacy'

The Duke of York will accompany Trump two of three days during UK state visit
Pair met 20 years ago at President's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Springs, Florida
Trump will not be involved in a procession down The Mall due to the security risk
It is hoped that Prince Andrew and Trump's shared love of golf will deflect any diplomatic disasters

Not really news other than I'm surprised the Secret Service didn't book the floors above and below it too. Booking the entire floor is SOP for security.

Why is ENTIRE in caps Like it was unusual?  Securing the entire floor is standard as well as rooms above and below the Presdents room.  Here In Seattle it was The Weston they would stay at and book as stated above.

Never heard of that hotel. I’ve heard of other 5 star posh hotels in London, but this is the first time I’ve heard of this one.

Inquiring minds want to know if Fergie will be accompanying Andrew. Just kidding. And does President Trump like warm beer?

The Cornithia brand has been around a long time (they do some of the top places around Europe) but I believe up until a few years ago it was branded as Whitehall by Cornithia or just Whitehall.

Outrage.  They could make due with One room on the ground floor.

Isn't that plane big enough for them to all sleep on?  Why rent any rooms, they can all just sleep on AF1.
