Okay, I'm going to sticky this for now...TOS has a thread. I'm not too apt on this but perhaps, some here are and will wish to chime in.

They are voting for EU officials over there or something. I'm not too familiar with the process.

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - The European parliamentary election will hopefully strengthen anti-immigration political forces across Europe, Hungarian right-wing Prime Minister Viktor Orban told reporters after he cast his vote on Sunday.

“I hope that there will be a shift in the European public arena in favor of those political parties who would like to stop migration,” said Orban, dressed in a dark suit and an orange tie, the color of his Fidesz party.

“We reject migration and we would like to see leaders in position in the European Union who reject migration, who would like to stop it and not to manage it.”

I'm not sure if populist or conservative or right-wing AfD (Germany) or VOX (Spain) are dong that well. Info again, at   BNL    Sounds like Italy is continuing conservative, no idea on the UK.

Anyone can add in stories, I doubt if there are that many fixated on this as of today, Memorial Day weekend... but should something break, we will be here.

Excellent explanation of the EU Elections here:

--- Quote ---Centrist bloc to lose majority in EU vote as Greens and euroskeptics gain, early results show
CNBC, May 26, 2019

Key Points

*  The European parliamentary election is the second-largest democratic exercise in the world, with citizens across 28 nations voting for their new representatives.

*  This year’s vote was particularly relevant due to the surge of anti-EU and nationalist parties across the region.

The EU Parliament will be much more fragmented over the next five years with the established centrist bloc failing to gain a majority at this week’s election, early results and projections show.

The initial results on Sunday evening suggested a strong showing for Liberal and Green parties, with euroskeptic groups in France and the U.K. holding the gains they saw in 2014. Italy’s anti-immigration Lega party was also expected to make large gains, according to exit polls.

It means that pro-EU parties will hold onto two-thirds of the seats at the EU Parliament, though nationalist opponents have also produced a solid result. The lack of a majority for the centrist bloc — the center-right European People’s Party (EPP) and the center-left Socialist and Democrats (S&D) which has held power in Brussels for several decades — could further complicate decision-making at the European Union.

Why it matters?

The European parliamentary election is the second-largest democratic exercise in the world, with citizens across 28 nations voting for their new representatives. Over 400 million people are eligible to take part.

The vote has major implications for the functioning of the bloc and the future of national politics in each member state. The EU Parliament has a say on policies like agriculture and trade and is made of 751 MEPs (members of the European Parliament).

CNBC, May 26. 2019

[...]

This year’s vote is particularly relevant due to the surge of anti-European and nationalist parties across the EU. Projections, before the polls opened on Thursday, suggested that these parties could get nearly 30% of seats at the European Parliament. At the same time, the traditional mainstream majority between the Socialists and the Conservatives, which has led Europe over the last few decades, is expected to come to an end.

This year’s vote will shed light on how Europeans feel about the European Union but will also be a test for national governments.

“The European elections are a big referendum on the governing party. This is the case in France, where the French will have (for) the first time the opportunity to say what they think about (President Emmanuel) Macron,” Alberto Alemanno, professor of European law at H.E.C. University in Paris, told CNBC prior to the election.

Ahead of this year’s EU elections, Macron finds himself fighting the nationalist and Euroskeptic party of Marine Le Pen once again. The recently renamed National Rally (RN) party was slightly ahead in the pre-election polls, suggesting it will be a close call between the two.

There is also a strong focus on Italy and how much support there will be for the anti-establishment coalition; as well as on the U.K., where until recently citizens were not expected to take part in this election, given the country’s decision to leave the EU back in 2016. The result also comes after Theresa May resigned as U.K. prime minister on Friday following a prolonged Brexit stalemate.
