A vast disinformation network of copycat fake news sites with names like 'Bloomberq' and 'The Indepnedent' has been pinned on Iran

Researchers at the Citizen Lab research group uncovered a vast disinformation network which they say is being backed by Iran.
The network — dubbed Endless Mayfly — circulated untrue articles seeking to advance narratives critical of Saudi Arabia, the US and Israel, the researchers said.
The pages aped legitimate websites, often altering their web addresses by one or two characters to give names like Bloomberq or The Indepnedent.
A spokesman for the Iranian government denied any involvement with the network.
Researchers say they have uncovered a vast fake news network impersonating genuine news organizations and using fake social media profiles to spread disinformation.
