Trump's best 2020 move: Dump Mike Pence for Nikki Haley

(CNN)President Trump's recent stonewalling tactics, aimed at blocking Congress' ability to follow up on the allegations detailed in the Mueller report, are rooted in the belief that he can run out the clock on the Democrats in the House through the 2020 election. Nonetheless, it's a strategy fraught with peril, and if the President begins to see a significant erosion in his approval numbers from Americans tired of the endless standoff, he might need to reach deep into his bag of tricks to reset the national narrative.

She's a great lady, but better first chair. You'd have two very strong personalities and different styles on the campaign trail, and I think there would be a great deal of clashing.

Whether one considers oneself Evangelical or not, apparently, Pence fits into that mode strongly. Perhaps he helped the election chances.

Pence and Haley, Indiana and South Carolina, not exactly states one worries about carrying for the GOP.

Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

Somewhere to change the GOP ticket at the top, either two slots, the economy would need to slide or some other calamity would need to strike.

An incumbent President has not dumped the incumbent VP as a running mate since FDR (who was the only one to do so in the past century)—and that's only because John Nance Garner turned on FDR and tried to run against him. It's probably not going to happen again any time soon. Why we seem to hear about this every eight years, I don't know.

This is CNN giving advice. They really haven't been able to pull much dirt on Pence out of that warm dark source they usually get their material from. He won't go even to lunch with a woman unaccompanied by his wife. While they have complained about that, they can't make allegations in the face of it. So Pence is no fun for CNN, they need someone they can smear (Whether Nikki Haley fits that bill or not).

Her anti-southern heritage stances in tearing down the confederate flags and monuments in her tenure as governor is a deal buster.  She can go to. hell as far as I am concerned.
