My grandfather was a Surveyor.  By the time I reaching Scouting,my parents and grandparents had taught me about maps etc.

Some folks have aptitude n this area, and some are unlikely to grasp it very well.

True,but trying to do it while exhausted from only a couple of hours sleep a day while carrying a lot of heavy equipment and walking in the dark while being timed adds a certain amount of stress.

And if you don't make it to where you are supposed to be on time,you just flunked out of a course you have spent months working hard to pass.
