Bernie Sanders Says Boston Marathon Bomber Has Right to Vote

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, told a CNN town hall on Monday night that "every person has a right to vote," even people who have been convicted and imprisoned for committing acts of murder and terrorism, even the Boston Marathon bomber.

Sanders laid out his position on this in response to a pointed question posed to him by a Harvard student.

"Look--this is what I believe," Sanders said. "Do you believe in democracy? Do you believe that every single American 18 years of age or older who is an American citizen has the right to vote?

Voting is not a right.  It is a privilege - or at least it used to be.  And when you commit crimes, you lose some rights and privileges. 10631

That is correct: in a constitutional republic, voting is a privilege earned by citizenship, maturity, and honorable behavior.

It is no wonder that radical collectivists wish to devalue the franchise whose purpose is to ensure that our nation is governed by an informed citizenry, as opposed to its delinquents, derelicts and dumbasses.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn
