@Jazzhead  There are no "good guys."  They all broke Federal law to be here in the first place, by virtue of jumping the fence or overstaying a Visa.  Some happen to be worse than others but it's only a matter of degree.  And don't blame our immigration laws.  Can they be improved?  Sure!  But the overwhelming flow of invaders must stop first, otherwise we make law under duress.  "Bad cases make bad law."

The people who drive me to the deepest despair are those who say "There is no border crisis.  This is a manufactured emergency.  You people living in the Desert Southwest are ninnies."  (I don't recall you, personally, saying these things but there are others on TBR who do.)

Tell somebody living in Tucson, Nogales or Yuma they're "ninnies."  One will get away with that one time.

CL,  what your family suffered was horrible.   A colleague of mine a couple of weeks ago was shot on the sidewalk walking home from work.    That the perp may have been a citizen (he hasn't been caught yet) doesn't make the crime any less deserving of swift and sure punishment.    There is simply no excuse for not swiftly deporting such human trash,  and securing the border as we should have been doing all along.

But it hardly means that I don't "give a crap" because I choose to differentiate between the bad guys and the good guys.  And if the political price that needs to be paid to get the funds needed to secure the border,  and ensure swift deportation of criminals and gang members,  is amnesty for those who came here to work and kept their noses clean,  then I am more than willing to pay that price.

And you are completely ignoring the fact that illegals are being used to create congressional seats in liberal districts by virtue of being included in the census and when allowed to vote, as they inevitably will be if they aren't already, vote en mass for socialists.

Don't tell me we can just fix these issues because self interested politicians will not. It is very much in their interests.

Illegals have politically destroyed CA for the rest of my lifetime and are in the process of destroying the entire SW and if this continues will be repeated in state after state.

Enjoy your new 'hard working' neighbors & soon to come workers paradise.

[  But the overwhelming flow of invaders must stop first, otherwise we make law under duress.

And that's the fundamental point of our disagreement.   You call them invaders.  I say we invited them in.   Three decades of lax enforcement coupled with the siren song of thousands of employers willing and eager to hire them is what has led to the current crisis.

To stop the flow, we need to change the laws and get serious about enforcement (including against employers).    To demand we stop the supply before we address the demand is foolish, IMO.

You put your finger on my issue with it right there.  I constantly hear from a fellow in the Midwest that says there's no emergency because he doesn't see a problem where he lives, and the Press tells him the issue is just Trump.  Refuses to see what people in the Southwest are dealing with because Trump.

The problem should be so crystal clear by now I have to wonder about the true motives of those who offer rationalizations, even those who don't live in the impact zone.

One more time and I give up:  We didn't "invite" them, they all broke our laws to be here.  Saying we invited them is like saying we invite auto theft when we leave our keys in the car, or we invite burglars to steal our property because we don't have an alarm installed in our houses.

They invited themselves, and too often their chosen vocation is crime.  Murder is merely the apex of that pile.

It's not helpful the Pubbies twiddled their thumbs for two years.  It took "caravans" of invaders to get anybody to pay attention.  And now those same RINOs are obstructing efforts to stop them.

The problem is that any policy can be easily undone with the next election, a wall is a more permanent solution, albeit there has to be more than just a wall.

That was the commonality of every "compromise solution" offered by the Rats:  Each one comes with an "Off" button that can be used on January 20, next Rat that gets elected President.

They're "good ones" if you ignore the fact that every last one of them broke a serious Federal law.  There were four bad ones that killed my BIL with a baseball bat.  Two melted back over the border that's less than 100 miles away from the scene. The other two were convicted and served less than 10 years.  They're loose now, even though illegal because they were never deported as ordered.  Obastard was Preezy of the United Steezy.  I doubt anybody harmed a hair on their balls.

The highlighted part is why I say "crisis" and it's a big deal for me.  It's because I live here, not in Philly.  And why every time we discuss this I become more certain you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

I reiterate the prior comment:  I hope you never have to find out what it's like.  I'd be a bit more understanding of your perspective if I could be convinced you give a crap about mine.

@Cyber Liberty

My Lord, how horrible about your BIL.  I’m so sorry.

Yep, if the murderer hadn’t been here, your BIL would be alive.  And the murderer had no right to be here.  Pretty basic.
I say this to Beto fans, Trump fans, all fans of politicians: it is un-American, ridiculous, and dangerous to be a fan of a politician. They aren't pop stars. Support them if you agree with their policies. Criticize them when they go wrong. They are servants, not celebrities. —— Matt Walsh
