Biden getting in should be a good thing. He'll have to take and defend positions on the socialist agenda items, which should cast plenty of doubt on them. The socialists in turn will have to hammer Biden on his record and on his personal baggage. To have any chance, Biden will need 0bama's endorsement, and I don't see that happening. How do you explain the guy you worked for for 8 years not giving you his unconditional support, or worse yet supporting one of your no-name opponents? I see lots of potential for the dems to seriously damage their chances.

It's also interesting to note that if Clinton had won in 2016, Biden's and Sanders' careers would now be over - it was her loss that kept their presidential hopes alive.

Where I am suggesting "dirty tricks"? What I'm saying is that the Dems are using the cover of their Trump-hate to install a socialist in the White House. Given Trump's failure to expand his base, in the face of a booming economy, it ought to be quite obvious that the man is uniquely vulnerable. The primaries are the time for considering how best to confront this reality.

I cannot see a realistic scenario in which Trump wins re-election. You may disagree, and that is what a healthy debate among Republicans should consist of. To me, the rejection of socialism and the poison of identity politics ought to be THE primary goal of the GOP in 2020. Why is it a "liberal talking point" to suggest this? Blind loyalty and genuflection is a road leading to disaster, IMO.

That poll was just in the news the past few days, 85% (or similar) of Republicans approve of Trump's handling of the presidency so unless the economy bottoms out, unemployment rises drastically or a few other factors, Republicans simply are not going to vote for someone else in the nomination process. Just won't happen.

And then, who would beat Biden any way under Joseph Curl's scenario? I'd entertain ideas but I don't see anyone doing better, Nikki? Or any of the others.

Their income tax rates are high, but also pretty flat. Add 25% VAT and you have average-income families paying the price of the benefits they want. You don't hear our socialists suggesting anything remotely similar - their plan is just a gigantic giveaway paid for by "the rich". They also don't seem very keen on other Scandinavian economic freedoms like minimum-wage policy.

Exactly. When you only hear about the freebies it sounds great. When you find out you have to pay for it yourself, not so much. And it's only common sense that it's totally incompatible with uncontrolled immigration. If we think the border is overwhelmed now, just wait until the illegals learn that they won't even be expected to work!
